some users after being banned or blocked will return to this project. If these users choose to intentionally give themselves away so that they alternate account fails the duck test, these accounts should immediatley be blocked. Other accounts that cannot pass the duck test should be left alone until the status quo changes. Should behavior emerge that identifies them as socks, they should be immediatley blocked. However if, based on there behavior, it cannot be determined that they are socks they should be left alone. It may or may not be a blocked/banned but that is beside the point.

Rationale[edit]

On any online project, especially with the availability of anonymity, everybody will encourter disruptive users. A common form of disruption is abusing sock puppets and/or meat puppets. Users found using sock puppets are often indefinitley blocked (in an essence banned) or even banned with outright community consensus. For most of these editors, there is nothing preventing them from creating an alternate account, under a new IP and returning to editing.
