A Taste of Self-Love Act 1 Scene 1 (play)[edit]
A Taste of Self-Love Act 1 Scene 1 is a play written by British playwright Chrispin Lema. It was first staged on the 24th May 2018 which is his second older sister's birthday called Rady Dizolele Lema at the Wickham theatre in Bristol, England. Chrispin Lema was also nominated as one of the 24 Most Influential Bristolians Under 24[1] for one of his works in A Taste of Self-Love Act 1 Scene 1 theatre play. Omojola Ogundipe was another actress who was casted as Malkia but unfortunately before rehearsals and having their first script read, she sadly passed away[2]. This play was also dedicated to her. She was the president of the Spoken Word and Poetry society who Chrispin Lema humbly used to perform with[3] in Bristol, England and represent the University of Bristol in competitions around the country in United Kingdom.
Plot[edit]
London, 2016: a sweet, cheeky girl called Malkia starts her first day at secondary school. She’s in for a surprise, but luckily, she has her Grandpa and older brother, Mfalme, to listen to how her week went at school[4]. Is she proud of being black? Is she proud of her natural hair? Does she find it cool to have an African name? Mfalme is a charismatic young lad, who loves to wind up his Grandfather. However, he wonders why his father never gave him the same amount of love that Malkia, his sister got. Are boys’ issues less important than girls? Does it make you less of a man to cry and to have feelings?
Trivia[edit]
The first actress that was casted as Malkia was Phoebe Campbell who starred in House of The Dragon as Rhaena Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series. She then later decided to reject the role so that she can focus on her work and rehearsals in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. DJ/ Presenter/ Host at Foundation FM Vanessa Maria was also asked to play the role of Malkia during her conversation with Chrispin Lema in the theatre department in University of Bristol but rejected because she was busy with her exams for her law degree at Bristol University. Comfort Amos was later casted after Omojola Ogundipe sadly passed away before their first script reading. A girl called Hannah, who was the star of Bristol Old Vic Young Company theatre play called The Love Of The Nightingale by Timberlake Wertenbaker on the 10th till 13th of January 2017, who was also training with Chrispin Lema at the Bristol Old Vic Young Company during Chrispin Lema's second academic year studies at Bristol University was casted as Malkia, but left no reply back.

Comfort Amos holds a bachelor degree in Drama from UWE Bristol; Ifean Ogbonnaya holds a joint honours bachelor degree in Theatre & Film from University of Bristol; Chrispin Lema holds a bachelor degree in Theatre & Performance Studies from Bristol University.
