Leila Gharani (born June 3, 1978) is an Austrian entrepreneur and educator, recognized for her expertise in Microsoft Excel and her online educational content.[1] She is a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional).

Early Life and Education[edit]

Leila Gharani was born in Tehran, Iran and raised in both Iran and Austria. She pursued her higher education at Carlton University and University of Toronto, where she obtained a masters degree in economics.[2]

Career[edit]

After graduating, Gharani worked as an economist for the Center for the Study of Living Standards (CSLS)[3] in Ottawa, Canada. After returning to Austria, she took on roles focused on VBA and Oracle projects at Mondi, a multinational packaging and paper group. In 2015, she established XelPlus,[4] an online education company providing training courses for Excel, Power BI, Finance, and Google Sheets.[5]

Her YouTube channel[6], where she shares Excel tutorials and tips, has gained over 2.6 million subscribers as of May 2024.

Awards and Recognition[edit]

Leila Gharani was accepted into the Microsoft MVP program in 2017,[7] an honor given to experts who have made significant contributions to the Microsoft community. She continues to hold this title in 2024.

In 2023, she was recognized as the "Most Influential Professional in the Excel Industry".[8]

Personal Life[edit]

Leila Gharani lives near Vienna, Austria with her family. She is married and has two kids.[9]
