Jesus (4 A.D.-37 A.D.) was a Jewish prophet during the Roman occupation of Judea who, though executed on behalf of the Sanhedrin by The Roman Empire, exerted an influence on many of the world's religions which persists to this day. Christians, most notably, believe him to be the Messiah--though many other creeds have their own distinct views about his nature (human and/or divine), teachings, and reception of the accounts in The Gospels that he was victorious over death and claims that he was God incarnate.
