In the article about Ishmael, there was a quote stating that Ishmael was known as a \'wild donkey of a man\'. I changed it to the actual biblical quote - \'wild ass of a man\'. The words mean the same thing but it is a fairly popular saying to call someone a \'wild ass of a man\', thus likening him to Ishmael. Substituting \'donkey\' for \'ass\' muddles the saying.

Edit was a bare URL added to an External Links section by an anonymous user. As it happens, the URL pointed to a legitimate news story relevant to the article on the website of a legitimate newspaper. I restored the link, but wrapped it in a \"Citation\" template.

It\'s hard for me to see how ClueBot could tell this was a legit link. A spam link would look very similar. The most obvious machine-readable clue would be the domain name of the URL being for a legitimate newspaper. But that doesn\'t by itself prove that the content pointed to by the link was relevant to the article. It\'s a difficult case.

This is a reference to the line Stallone\'s character, Tango, makes in the opening sequence. The line is one of the funniest and most memorable from the movie, as it is essentially Stallone making fun of his Rambo franchise. The line is \"Rambo\'s a Pussy\" and should not be changed, as it loses its effect.

I\'ve been cleaning up the carbon offset article (you can see details on the Talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Carbon_offset). The article contained a long, interesting, but fairly off-topic discussion of how trees interact with the climate system. I took that section and moved it to the treeplanting article (although it could probably also live in the LULUCF article). If this isn\'t a kosher thing to do, I\'m happy to revert, but it did seem like an improvement on both articles.

What happened

User \"Superdestro\" blanked and vandalized the \'non-interventionism\' page. I reverted the edit to the original (non-vandalized) page, but I was accused of vandalism for doing this.

edit: I think I know what happened here: I reverted the edit to the page after ClueBot detected the vandalism but before ClueBot could undo it. So when ClueBot tried to revert the edit it undid the edit of the last user to edit the page (me!) and not the user who had vandalized it (Superdestro). Thus, the page was reverted back to the vandalized version by ClueBot.

Hope this helps improve the bot. Thanks.

That web site reveals many truths such as

  • They inappropriately ban the users who have a different point of view, even if constructive.

Therefore, it is very important to have this link in description about them.

The \"clue\" part seems rather clueless here, as the edit was entirely constructive - Wikipedia is not censored and I don\'t see why edit summaries should be. Its also not a minor change - removes an entire line and the minor flag was *not* ticked

I don\'t appreciate robots having \"PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN\" robots when WP:NOT specifically states the Wikipedia isn\'t censored.

a table edit contained a few texts and several numbers. its not obvious for what those bot was really searching.

maybe the bot should be more carefull in terms of rating more than one criteria for doing automatic reverts on his own. just a single pattern hit should probably better lead to manual inspection.

The edit I made was simply to convert a bowdlerized form of a profanity, which was already in the article in the context of another semantic usage of the article subject, to the profanity itself, as per WP policy and general copy sense. But the bot automatically reverted it because it was a minor edit with profanity.

I split this page into two. That\'s where the heap of deleted text went! here --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_the_Schoolgirls_%28Victoria%29

At the moment this page has two completely different events/entries on it. They are run independently of each other and have nothing to do with each other. So I created a new entry for the latter half, and started to rearrange the article that I was keeping.

I\'m very new at this editing thing, so forgive me. Just trying to \'be bold\' and all that ;)

If you could revert back to my most recent one, that would be fantastic.

Thank you, Narcissus1x

Does Wikipedia allow for vulgarities in the content? If so, I\'m deeply disturbed by this. There\'s no reason to include vulgarities, especially when they do not add any value whatsoever to the content.

Could I have avoided this by not using the word \"censor\" in my reasoning?

Thanks. I love Wikipedia, and will love it more if swearing is not allowed.

The text was altered from \"bitch\" (the proper term for a female dog) to \"female\", thus reading \"...allowed to keep an unspayed female\". That edit was clearly incorrect, and was followed up with an addition of dog. I was correcting it back to the original proper terminology. While I appreciate the bot\'s effort, in this case, the word is not being used as a derogatory or obscene euphemism, but rather the correct word in the context.

I have no idea the code employed by this bot, but if reasonable, you may wish to do a paragraph scan for canine terms (especially related to breeding) and drop the term \"bitch\" from the obscenity list. Thank you for the effort to keep Wikipedia maintained, however. Good luck!

The statement I removed from John Raese\'s page was both incorrect and not in context whatsoever.

There is no factual evidence that Sen. Robert Byrd stated John Raese\'s father would rather vote for him and not his son in their recent senate election. If, for some reason of simply being ignorant, the statement has to be kept, the statement needs to be moved to another paragraph so that it is in context with surrounding information.

I undid MY OWN EDIT, using the UNDO link on the History tab. ClueBot should really have recognized such sech a self-undo and not block it.

I would appreciate if someone would remove ALL TRACES and public logs of these edits as I NEVER wanted my real IP address to appear in the edit (I went through the https gateway and DID log in, but some MediaWiki bug must have forgotten that I was logged in mid-edit in the first edit.

I will soon log in and readd my original contribution, but only after you clean out the mess created by these WikiMedia and ClueBot bugs in the article and its history.

There is a big privacy issue here as this is an article about controversial historic crimes and I went out of may way to protect my own anonymity, only to be foiled by YOUR incompetence.

The section I removed is not a scientific theory. This theory is not a \"significant view that has been published by reliable sources,\" one of Wikipedia\'s criteria. In fact, it was just written by the sole believer in the theory. Perhaps, being new, there is another way to go about clarifying this. Another option would be to preface that section with such a statement. I am open to a more senior administrator\'s opinion on how to go about doing this. A number of faculty at my university were very concerned to find this misinformation on Wikipedia.

More than 20 cited references were given to validate the data in the new Filmography. The edit adds important new information and removes no information previously in the article without replacing it.

Cluebot was returning to a prior vandalized page. Universities offer the J.D. degree as a doctorate degree (doctor of jurisprudence). There is no debate over whether it is a doctorate degree or not.

There are just some odd people who feel that the universities should never have given doctorate status to professional doctorates (J.D, M.D., etc.). That is a very different question - if they want to change the status of the degree, that will require discussions with our institutions of higher education.

What happened

The previous IP editor removed a large portion of text that appeared twice. Although at first glance it appeared as \"blanking\" in a non-constructive way, this was a constructive edit.

Thanks!

While it was not me I noticed this while editing Bert Blyleven

cluebot's edit (330344). The user replaced the "f-word" with astricks. He was actually trying to clean up the page. I can understand why this would trigger cluebot because normally anything with that word would be vandalism. Only in this case it was not. The user that was falsely reported was 71.82.123.119
