Andrew Trumbetti is an NFL (National Football League) linebacker for the Chicago Bears.[1] Born in Demarest, New Jersey on March 14, 1996, he played high school football for Northern Valley Regional, and college football for the University of Notre Dame.[2]
High School Career
[edit]In high school Andrew Trumbetti played on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He played for Northern Valley Regional, who went 19-21 during Trumbetti’s time playing for them. As a freshman, Trumbetti played as an offensive lineman and linebacker before transitioning to playing as tight end and defensive lineman in his sophomore year. In his junior year, Trumbetti played as a wide receiver and defensive lineman before transitioning to linebacker again and the offensive line.[3]
College Career
[edit]Trumbetti played on the defensive line for the University of Notre Dame football team. He was one of six true freshmen on the defensive side of the ball to play in at least eleven games. Trumbetti was also one of only five true freshmen to register at least ten tackles. In November of 2015, Andrew Trumbetti returned his first career collegiate interception for a touchdown against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. It was his only interception of his collegiate career. In his junior season, he played in twelve games and started seven of them (Nevada, Michigan State, Duke, Army, Navy, Virginia Tech, and USC). In 2017, Trumbetti’s senior season, he played in a career high thirteen games. During his senior season, he recorded twenty-eight total tackles, a career high.[4]
Pro Career
[edit]Andrew Trumbetti went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free-agent.[5] He was released by the Bears in August 2018[6], and after clearing waivers was placed on the Bears injured reserve.[7] Trumbetti has yet to play a game in the NFL.
