Brimsham Athletic YFC[edit]

==

Brimsham Athletic YFC is a youth football club and team. They are currently in Division 4 of the U16 section in the Avon Youth League. They are based in the South West of England and play their games in Yate, Bristol. There home matches are played at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex (capacity around 100 people) who kindly let out their pitches on Sunday afternoons so the matches can go ahead.

History[edit]

Brimsham Athletic was founded in 2009 by the Lomas family (Oscar, Rachel, Ian and Elliot) all of whom currently play a role in the running and upkeep of Brimsham Athletic. The club came about due to Rachel Lomas' (manager) old team becoming too old to carry on playing. Oscar then put the idea of a team around and Brimsham Athletic was shortly founded with a lot of fundraising.

In their first season (last year) they finished third in Division 4 and missed out on promotion by one place. The team finished on 34 points after playing 18 games, winning 9, drawing 7 and losing 2, yet they still finished with a goal difference of 40 due to some impressive score lines.

Roles[edit]

There are many roles upheld within Brimsham Athletic. First of all there is the manager Rachel Lomas who has currently done a fantastic job with the squad and is very popular with all of the fans and players. Then there is the Coach Ian Lomas who along with Rachel and Elliot Lomas (assistant Coach and assistant referee) takes the training sessions every Tuesday night also at YOSC. All three of the Lomas' also take care of the running of the team behind the scenes and put in a lot of time and effort which is much appreciated by all. Finally there is the chairman of the club Craig Hodges who has made a few special appearances at big games when he is available.

Crest[edit]

The Brimsham Athletic crest consists of a whit letter B with an arrow going up through it (the ends of which are purple and yellow due to popular demand). The B stands for the word 'Brimsham' due to that being the main part of their name an the arrow has a very significant meaning. The original design was with the arrow going down through the letter B but this was soon changed to the arrow going up due to it creating a possitive spirit (they're going up). It took many weeks until the final crest was decided on but the supporters seem to like it, showing a good decision from the captain Oscar Lomas and vice captain Harrison Packer who created the badge. The idea for the arrow direction change coming from Jonathan Cook.

Kit[edit]

The Brimsham Athletic kit consists of a purple shirt with white stripes down the sides, plain white shorts and purple socks. These clours were chosen due to them standing out and the unlikelyhood of another team possessing the same colours therefore there is no need for an away strip. This piticular bright colour was however also chosen due to popular demand within the club.
