Far From Heaven is a 2002 American drama film written and directed by Todd Haynes. Set in the 1950s, the film focuses on housewife Cathy Whitaker (Julianne Moore), whose perfect life begins to fall apart. Far from Heaven was screened in the main competition section at the 59th Venice International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Lion. The film was released in the United States by Focus Features on November 22, 2002. It earned over £29 million in its combined total gross at the box office.[1]

The film gathered various awards and nominations following its release, ranging from recognition of the film itself, to Haynes's screenplay and direction, the cinematography and the cast's acting performances. Far From Heaven earned four nominations from the 75th Academy Awards.
