Dayamay Mahanty, a bengalee poet was born on 27 March, 1985. His father was Abani Mahanty. Mother is Radharani Mahanty. He completed his primary education from chepua primary school. He admitted into Kashidih CRCG vidyapith and then Manbazar RMI for higher studies. He passed BA with Bengali honrs from Manbhum Mahavidyalaya. He loved to play cricket and dreamt to be a cricketer. But his fortune brought him to poetry. He started to write poetry from his teenage. His first poem was published in college magazine. He started writing poetry seriously after completing his BA. He wrote in many renowned magazines like Desh, Notun Krittibas, Kabisommelon, Arambha, Nandan etc. His first book of poetry 'Nairamani Bali' was published in 2014. Thereafter he wrote 'pyramider pinkike'(2015), 'Sikoyia'(2019), 'Lothaler jyotsna'(2019), 'Jokhon tomar poton lekha hochchhilo'(2020), 'Tomar Sohore Amar kobita path'(2021), 'Nairana nodir dike'(2023). He wrote many books of prose in various subjects. He wrote 'ye Ananda kobita hoye ase'(2021) which is a book of essay on poetry. He wrote a book on humanity and capitalism named 'Manabata vs punji'(2022). His some notable books of prose are 'Shiter dhaibati Alo'(2022), 'Bhasa : Rupdokkho nodi'(2023). His first book of prose was published in 2017 named 'Amader tutioni' was written on his vivid experience as a private tutor.

Dayamay Mahanty is also interested in drama & Cinema. He wrote many dramas which were played in his locality. He works as independent film writer & director. He wrote & acted in some jatrapalas. He thought of necessity to reform jatra to make it popular in this era. He decided to reduce the duration of pala and wrote some short Palas like 'Sundor purer baghini sundori', 'Chitar agune sinthir sindur' etc. These were popular in his locality.

As a writer Dayamay is continuously trying to unfold many dark & little discussed topics in many aspects of human life. His versatile creativity is still vividly active & producing enriched works.
