From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crash Underwood is a native Canadian artist/musician/writer/inventor, born in Ontario, Canada, in 1965. He is not officially part of the Saanich Underwood family of Victoria, B.C., but did have the pleasure to meet them once.
Crash Underwood attended art college in his early twenties, but had already been creating and selling his artwork since the age of seven, so his attention quickly changed to the strip club across the street from the school. He practised by drawing the dancers, and with the leisure that youth provided, began to distort the bodies and limbs of his drunken scribbles with mad delight, creating without thinking, striving to capture subconsciousness on paper. A similarity to Salvador Dali and Giger is somewhat apparent in his work, although there exists a certain dark and twisted originality to the various landscapes, creatures and creations by Crash Underwood.
As of January 3, 2010 there is estimated to be more than 1200 original drawings, and approximately 800 acrylic paintings being held in private collections throughout the world, as well as numerous short stories, inventions, music and sculptures. Stickers of his surrealistic artwork have shown up in the oddest places such as U.S.nuclear submarines, guitar cases, backpacks, briefcases and even the space station.
