Talk:2020 in Philippine television[edit]

(revision 955158488 as of 07:56, 6 May 2020 by 152.32.100.41‎)

Discussion: ABS-CBN on "Networks" section[edit]

Since ABS-CBN has been off-the-air due to the franchise expiration, I proposed to add the network itself and other channels on either Closures or Stopped airing/temporary off air sub-sections in Networks section. (Since the franchise bill is still pending as of now in the Congress. Whether if it's either renewed or not, then the networks are probably temporarily or permanently off-the-air.)

Hence, if "Stopped airing/temporary off air" section, these are the two options to add on the table.

Stopped airing/temporary off air A

Station Channel Stopped airing Resumed/Returned airing Reason/Notes Source
ABS-CBN Channel 2 (analog feed) / Channel 16/43 (digital feed)
Cignal Channel 2 (Nationwide)
Sky Direct Channel 2 (Nationwide; HD)
SatLite Channel 2 (Nationwide)
Sky Cable Channel 8 (SD) / Channel 167 (HD) (Metro Manila)
Cablelink Channel 8 (Metro Manila)
May 5 TBA The National Telecommunications Commission issued a cease and desist order on ABS-CBN to stop the network's broadcast including its radio stations DZMM and MOR, following the expiration of its broadcast franchise (Republic Act No. 7966, which was granted on March 30, 1995) on May 4, the day before.
S+A Channel 23 (analog feed)
Cignal Channel 23 (Nationwide)
Sky Direct Channel 25 (Nationwide; HD)
SatLite Channel 23 (Nationwide)
Sky Cable Channel 16 (SD) / Channel 166 (HD) (Metro Manila) (Metro Manila)
Cablelink Channel 16 (Metro Manila)
Channel Name1 Channel No.1

Stopped airing/temporary off air B

Station Channel Stopped airing Resumed/Returned airing Reason/Notes Source

If "Closures" section, there are also two options; just follow the same formula to all channels on the table.

Closures A

Date Station Channel Sign-on debut Source

2020 in Philippine television[edit]

(revisions 955485505 as of 02:37, 8 May 2020 and 955541195 as of 11:18, 8 May 2020‎ both by Jon2guevarra; 959556599 as of 10:38, 29 May 2020‎ by Movies Time)

Events[edit]

May[edit]

  • May 5 - Most of ABS-CBN's broadcasting operations including ABS-CBN, MOR 101.9, DZMM and its television counterpart (temporarily renamed TeleRadyo due to DZMM's sign off and would return on May 8 only in digital free-to-air and cable as well as in online platforms), S+A, Asianovela Channel, Movie Central, Myx and Jeepney TV (with the exception of Cine Mo!, Yey!, Knowledge Channel, O Shopping and the ABS-CBN News Channel) signed off the air at 7:52pm due to the cease-and-desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission to stop broadcast operations of ABS-CBN because of the expiration of its franchise granted on March 30, 1995.[1] Meanwhile, the live channel streaming broadcast on ABS-CBN and DZMM TeleRadyo will be unavailable via iWant on the same day as O Shopping (running for only 3 days) and ABS-CBN News Channel will take over as temporary replacement of these streaming channels. And finally, Creative Programs owned pay TV channels (Cinema One, Liga, Metro Channel, Myx and Jeepney TV) remain unaffected in some DTH providers.
  • May 6 - One day after the final broadcasts on FTA, ABS-CBN, in a Facebook post, formally announces that due to demand from the overseas audiences on The Filipino Channel, TV Patrol will resume broadcast on that channel on May 7 after a two-day break live on all TFC platforms (including online, cable and satellite feeds), continuing a tradition of broadcasting to Filipinos abroad since 1989. In addition, live broadcasts of the newscast on online platforms and the ABS-CBN News Channel continued as well beginning on the said date, with the channel provisionally shouldering the program's airing and production.

Upcoming[edit]

TBA[edit]

  • Q2 2020 – After almost 12 years of broadcasting, 5 would be rebranded as One TV.

TeleRadyo[edit]

(revision 955663851 as of 02:28, 9 May 2020‎ by JMRAMOS0109‎)

DZMM TeleRadyo, or simply known as TeleRadyo, is a Philippine pay television channel that broadcasts ABS-CBN's flagship AM radio station DZMM 630. The channel is owned by the ABS-CBN Corporation under the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs brand, and is available on cable providers throughout the Philippines. TeleRadyo is also included as an exclusive (freemium) digital subchannel on digital terrestrial television via the ABS-CBN TVplus service. TeleRadyo is also simulcast via The Filipino Channel (TFC) and it can be heard and watch online via DZMM's YouTube channel and IWant. Prior to the closure of DZMM 630 at 8:00 PM of May 5, 2020 (local time), it was under the title DZMM TeleRadyo. At 8:20 PM, the station went off the air due to a cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission together with ABS-CBN, S+A, and MOR Philippines.[18], Although, initially renamed TeleRadyo on May 5, 2020 minutes after DZMM 630 KHZ was shutdown, it went back on-air and online on May 8, 2020.
