The Macorix or Macorís were an indigenous people of Hispaniola, living in what is now the northern parts of the Dominican Republic in the 15th and 16th centuries. They spoke the Macorix language, which had at least two dialects and was evidently unrelated to the Taíno language spoken in the rest of the island.
