László Polgár (1 January 1947 – 2010) was a Hungarian operatic bass.

Biography[edit]

László Polgár was born to Jewish parents Lajos Polgár and Anna Kántor in Somogyszentpál. He first studied voice with Irén Eyssen before enrolling at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he was a student from 1967 to 1972 and his teachers included Éva Kutrucz and Olga Révhegyi. He made his debut at the Hungarian State Opera in 1971 as Count Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto.
