American Royalty is an upcoming period crime drama TV series based on the life of former Long Island mobster and Colombo crime family caporegime Michael Franzese.

Premise[edit]

Set during the 1980s, American Royalty follows Long Island mobster Michael Franzese, the son of notorious mob boss Sonny Franzese. As a rising star in organized crime, Franzese interacts with notorious gangsters, in addition to various other historical figures of the time, including politicians, businessmen, journalists and celebrities.

Production[edit]

During the summer of 2017, Electus announced a TV series based on Franzese's book Quitting the Mob. The project was titled American Royalty and had Moshe Diamant and Michael Tadross Jr. attached to produce.

John Pollak, president of Electus International, stated:

American Royalty presents a modern take on a beloved genre, and its unflinching look at life inside the Mafia will captivate viewers around the world. The series will be comprised of tales spanning decades and generations, using real accounts to tell the story.

However, the project didn't move any forward. On the summer of 2020, Franzese mentioned a TV series based on his life was still a plausible idea. He later announced that the TV series would be an adaptation of his book Blood Covenant, expressing enthusiasm about the project.
