Orlando "Ori" Spado is an American insurance salesman and Hollywood, Los Angeles fixer for numerous celebrities, who became affiliated with Colombo crime family underboss John "Sonny" Franzese and the American Mafia. [1][2]

Early life[edit]

Orlando Spado was born on December 17, 1944 in Rome, New York to parents of Italian descent. [3] He graduated from Rome Free Academy and joined the U. S. Army, receiving an honourable discharge on 1966 and eventually returning to Rome. [1]

It was in Utica, where Spado first got into the insurance business, eventually founding the Ori Agency. [1][2]

Hollywood fixer[edit]

Spado relocated to California and established a presence there. [1] Through his business contacts in the state, he was reportedly able to meet and become friends with numerous celebrities, including Tina Louise, Frank Sinatra, Dino De Laurentiis and Jon Voight. He became known as the "Hollywood fixer", doing favours for many of them. His agency, based in Rome, but most active in California, was very successful. [1] [2]

RICO[edit]

On 2008, Spado was arrested at his home in Beverly Hills and was brought to Brooklyn on a Colombo crime family RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) indictment. He was eventually convicted and served five years in a federal prison. [1]

After prison[edit]

After Spado was released from prison, he co-wrote a very successful autobiography titled The Accidental Gangster: From Insurance Salesman to Mob Boss of Hollywood with Dennis N. Griffin. [1][2]
