This is a page concerning the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is the outside layer of gray matter in the cerebrum of the brain. The brain consists of the cerebrum, diencephalon, mesencephalon, and brainstem. The cerebral cortex can be divided into approximate regions of functionality. Some of these regions include the prefrontal cortex, Broca's area, Wernicke's area, the auditory cortex, the premotor cortex, the primary motor cortex, the primary somatosensory cortex, the visual cortex, and the association somatosensory cortex.
