Key issues for the Flora:
How to ensure that claims in articles are based on the most appropriate (reliability, topicality) sources?
"the most important references in terms of date, content, method, etc. get only as many references as do less important to unimportant and, even, forgetable secondary or tertiary sources."
Doing this right requires access to sources and an understanding of recent developments in the field.
Should macro- and micromorphology and phylogeny and keys all be included?
Neither Wikipedia nor Wikispecies allow keys (considered Original research), Wikisource and Species ID do allow them. Scholarpedia does not yet have mycological articles, Citizendium very few.
Phylogeny is often being revised these days, so may not be suitable for systematic inclusion across taxa.
Micromorphology currently sparsely covered
Macromorphology covered best, but extent biased by pop culture.
Are there databases that could be queried systematically to provide authoritative data on things like spore size?
