King Faizel MC Faizel MC, as he's known, is one of the most prominent and well established musicians in the Namibian music industry. He's respected for having been the first artist in Namibia to be featured on Channel O, and regularly tours Europe and Africa. He performs "Afrobeat Dance Hall" music, which is a mixture of Raggae, Kwassa, House, Dance Hall and Kwaito.

Faizel was born in Nairobi Kenya, to a Ugandan mother and Tanzanian father, and even though he tours all over the world, and has a home in Namibia, he still calls Uganda home. It's where he grew up, where his mom and brothers live, where he can just "hang out" with friends. Kenya, also, is a special place in Faizel's life, it was there, on Bamburi beach in Mombassa that he sang with a raggae group and together with Ogopa Djs, first released "Senorita", which got air time on most Kenyan radio stations and TV coverage in Dar es Salaam.

It wasn't long after this that Faizel lost his father, and that's when he decided to live with his uncle in Namibia. At this point, he thought "'Senorita' did OK in Kenya, will they like it in Namibia?" so, in 1999, "Senorita" was introduced to Namibia and it was well received, in fact it introduced him to well established artists like Gal Level, The Dogg, Sunny Boy, Gazza, Rashehama and many others.

Soon after, Faizel started a group called Dungeon Family, which was to help up and coming young talent in Namibia. Then he worked with The Dogg, Gal Level, Sunny Boy and others to produce his first album, "Dayz Go By" with sixteen songs. The CD was launched in April 2005, and sold out almost immediately, he got air time on Africa's finest Music Channel O, and had hits with "Senorita", "Chunga Macho", "Best of Both Worlds", "Kata", and "Cum Get Your Love".

The next year, again in April, he released Moto, and again the fans in Namibia clamoured for his songs. This time, he did a song called "Kamata, Mama" with Gal Level (Namibia's home-grown version of Destiny's Child) and "Moto", both of which were big, and still are, all over Namibia. As a result of this album, his music was introduced to Angola, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and other countries.

Later in 2009, Faizel released "Back Again" which featured the songs So in Love, Baby Baby, Another Day, Ekse, Dansa Serious and many more.

Right now, you can catch Faizel at one of his performances in Europe, and he's working on his sixth album, "Super Star", which will feature the two songs Mash Up and Wampamba.

And is working with great East African musical icons such as Radio n Weasel Uganda, Toniks Uganda, Michael Ross, Jose Chameleon, Vampino, Albert Monguea Tanzania, and a Namibian ALLSTAR colaboration.

Achievements

Four time "Sanlam Namibian Music Awards Nominee" Certificate of good conduct and Ambassador, giving back to the community by organizing shows in dedication to the street kids, children orphaned by HIV parents, and the unfortunate. Engaged in the struggle of Human and Women's rights. Performed with UB40 in the charity concert to raise funds for the ophans of Hope village of Namibia Sellout performances in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and Uganda. Performed at the World's biggest Braai, which was held in Namibia in 2006 to enter the Guiness World Record book. Privileged to have worked with many artists, including UB40, KidFox, Michael Ross, Feiz Ranks, Jamal, Jose Chameleon, Vee of Botswana, Leo Muntu of Zambia, Malaika, Mandoza, Mafikizolo, and Brenda Fassie, all of South Africa

Label

Faizel MC has recorded albums with Butterfly Entertainment, Lash Attractions, PJ Music (Sony BMG), Ogopa DJS and now Ogopa/Butterfly, the largest label in Namibia, with top artists Gal Level and The Kalaharians.

Now the King owns his own label by the name RUFF n TUFF Records, and it has signed up some other artists as well and still looking for more.
