Dr. Amir Ziv Av (born 1949) is the owner of the technological engineering company "Ziv Av Engineering Ltd". Former Chief Scientist of the Israeli Minister of Transportation & National Infrastructures. A member of the executive committee of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, member of the Board of Trustees of the "Afeka" College of Engineering and in various state committees. He served as a member of the board of directors of the company "Eshat Ashkelon" and of the knowledge commercialization company of Bar-Ilan University.

Amir Ziv-Av holds a PhD from Tel Aviv University on the formulation of optimal technological concepts and technological strategy. Holder of thirteen patents in the fields of mechanics, the plastics industry, automobiles, aviation and medical devices.

In the 1970s, he served as a member of the headquarters or transportation's safety headed by Deputy Minister Gad Yacovi. In the years 1973-1976 he was a monthly columnist in "Maariv" on transportation issues.

In the years 1976-1982, after studying engineering, he returned to permanent service in the IDF as the head of the mechanical planning headquarters in the Yaftah unit, and then served as the head of the development branch of the engineering corps, as an assistant to Israel Tal on the development of the chariot tank, and as the head of a project in the office of the deputy chief of staff, Maj. Yekutiel Adam.

In the years 1984-1987, he served as the director of opto-mechanical development and a member of the extended management of "Opterotech" (known as "Orbotech", today part of KLA-Tencor) and then as the development manager and member of the management of "Ketar Plastik".

In the early 1990s and after the establishment of Ziv-Av Engineering, he served as a consultant in the field of the plastics industry to the industrialist Steph Wertheimer. In 1998, he was appointed chairman of the board of directors of the "Zafir Engineers" company[2], a public company that engaged in engineering services[3].

In 1999 he was involved in planning a compromise in the "Mishna case"[4]. A project in which parts of steam turbines of the "Electricity Company" were transferred from the "Elco" factory next to a licensed interchange to the power plant in Ashkelon, which due to their size required the closing of roads and the removal of light poles[4]. The plan to lead them on Shabbat caused the Torah Judaism party to withdraw from the Ehud Barak government[5].

In the years 2005-2014 he served as a member of the Executive Committee of Afka College of Engineering. (At the same time as membership in the Board of Trustees that continues to this day).

In the years 2005-2010 he served as a board member of the R&D company of Bar-Ilan University.

In the years 2011-2013 he served as the chief scientist of the Ministry of Transportation, National Infrastructures and Road Safety, as well as the chairman of the inter-ministerial committee for traffic devices, safety and experiments and the chairman of the steering committee for traffic management and control[6].

Articles on technological strategy and systems developed by Ziv-Ev have been published in several world magazines: "Thinking Highways" (2013), "Machine Design", "Modern Plastics", "Automotive Engineering", "Kunststoffe", "Link"

Periodically publishes guest articles in "The Marker" and "Globes" on society, economy, the defense budget and education. Among other things, he advocates for free public transportation, since the economic-social benefit that will come from its full subsidy is much higher than the cost of the subsidy[7].
