Dianthus gallicus, the Jersey pink or French Pink', is a species of Dianthus native to south-western Europe, including Spain, France and Channel Islands.
Now a synonym of Dianthus hyssopifolius subsp. gallicus (Pers.) M.Laínz & Muñoz Garm., Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 44(2): 572 (1987).ipni
Description[edit]
Jersey pink Syn. pl. 1:495. 1805 Europe SOUTHWESTERN EUROPE: Spain (n.), France (w.)[1]
Loosely hummock-forming. Leaves narrow and short to 10-15mm long, hairy at the base. Flowers one to three on rather floppy stems to 50cm long, fragrant, 2-3cm across, pink and bearded. From sandy Atlantic shores in France, Portugal and Spain. Best grown in a crevice or wall where the stems can hang down.[2]
Dianthus gallicus (Jersey Pink) 20 (30)cm, Jersey Pink is a rarely seen species native of sand dunes at the Atlantic costs. Makes numerous pale rose to pink flowers above narrow, bluish-green foliage. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in full sun. VI-VII.[3]
