After university I continued to be employed by Babcock’s Power as a Project Manager for the North of Scotland Hydro Electricity Board’s, Peterhead Power Station, rising to a position in middle management. During this time my responsibilities included team management; project management (£30M); financial quoting and negotiating contracting variations (up to £15M); coordination of design, manufacture, erection, and commissioning. I joined Strathclyde Police and enjoyed a 14 year career. I undertook supervisory roles in the Uniform and CID. I attained a Psychology degree during this time specialising in Forensic Psychology. I was responsible for introducing and promoting the cognitive interviewing technique on a national level, and having it adopted by Home Office and all Police Forces throughout the UK. Following my early retirement from the police force in 1994, I became Professional Toastmaster I consolidating 15 years experience, involving Marketing, Sales, Sponsorship Public Relations, Web Development, mass media releases, Television and Radio Interviews. I continue to be a Professional Toastmaster which includes facilitating large corporate or society functions as well as Burn Suppers, Public and After Dinner Speeches. My events management activities have given me valuable experience in full spectrum of event management including Marketing, Sales, Logistics, Public Relations, Web Site Development, Media Liaison, Television and Radio Interviewing. Supply Chain, Branch, Office, and Senior Administration Management, including aspects of Facilities, Waste and Recycling, and Health & Safety responsibilities have been part of my remit throughout my employment. Customer Care Team Supervisor and Management experience has been gained in the Public and Private Sectors, including team motivation and supervision. A review of the GEC-Marconi’s “Management Development Programme’ reported at board level, attracted positive feedback. I have many years experience working with people, as a team member, supervisor and customer relations. I have excellent communication skills, and endeavour to establish and maintain mutual trust and respect when building relationships. My ability to analyse complex problems and strive to resolve issues by finding an appropriate solution - using lateral thinking appropriately. My aptitude, knowledge and experience qualifies me for a variety of roles - in senior management, project management, public relations, and the event management as well as leisure /hospitality industry.
