I am an american who currently works as a group leader in the fields of computational biology, comparative genomics and molecular evolution at the Linnaeus Centre for Bioinformatics at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden.

My professional interests include the structure, function and evolution of information in biological macromolecules, particularly the transduction of biological information in the process of molecular translation. My thesis was on the coevolution of genes with genetic codes.

My personal interests include cooking and eating, especially mexican food, ultimate frisbee, west african drumming and dance, photography, acting, choral music, environmental issues and advocacy, and playing ukulele.
