Appearance
This is a list of people awarded the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) Founder's and Patron's Gold Medals during the twentieth century. The medals were instituted in 1831 and 1839 respectively, following the establishment of an annual gift of fifty guineas from King William IV to the Society. They are awarded annually "for the encouragement and promotion of geographical science and discovery".
