The College of Business is one of the top majors at Illinois State University. Illinois State's College of Business ranks near the top of one of the best undergraduate programs in the nation! The COB also has one of the best programs to get a MBA.

Institutes[edit]

Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services: Made for all insurance and financial majors. Was founded in 1991 and provides many services and seminars for their students.

George R. Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies: For entrepreneurial majors. This program offers support for all different entrepreneurial programs. George and Martha themselves founded and funded this program for Illinois State.

Professional Sales Institute: This institute is for sales and other leadership majors. It has a special partnership with sales and higher education.. There is only 49 other institutes like it. It was established in 2009 and is still one of the most popular institutes in the College of Business.

Illinois Small Business Developmental Center at Illinois State: This program was set up to help entrepreneurs to create a small business and thrive in the economy today. The SBDC is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

International Business Institute: The IBI helps internationalize students majoring in International Studies.

Organizational Leadership Institute: This institutes main goal is to develop students leadership and experiences. Offers programs and help to students to step up in the business world.

Locations[edit]

State Farm Hall of Business[edit]

Their main location for the College of Business is on the Illinois State University campus. This building is based off the 21st century version model of the Oxford College model. It was built in 2005 and has 118,00 square feet of space for all business majors. It feature state of the art technology and 20 lecture rooms.[1] The building has a total of 5 floors that include a computer lab, coffee shop, and a garden atrium in the center. The State Farm Hall of Business is one of the newer and nicest buildings on campus.

Chicago[edit]

This program is for all graduates form Illinois State that got a degree in business. Offers graduates an opportunity to achieve their MBA (Masters of Business). It is a 19-month program with classes on fridays and saturdays. The school is locate in the Crains Communication Building in downtown Chicago. [2]

Business Fraternities[edit]

The College of Business also has student run organizations within it. These "business" fraternities are not like social ones. These fraternities are made up of all business majors. They help you achieve business success. The fraternities hold series of events with companies and other business leaders to better yourself when you graduate form college and enter the business World. Here are some of the fraternities the College of Business houses:

  1. Beta Alpha Psi: This professional business fraternity is mostly for accounting, finance and informational professions."Membership requires students to have a declared major in accounting, finance or information systems, completed a minimum of 60 hours, including at least one upper-level major course, and have both a cumulative and major grade point average of 3.0/4.0. Students are eligible for pledge status after completing 30 semester hours with a minimum 3.0 grade point average" [3]
  2. Pi Sigma Epsilon: Business fraternity for sales, marketing and management. " Here on campus, we have 80+ members and are rated one of the top chapters in the nation every year. [4]
  3. Alpha Kappa Psi: One of the oldest business fraternities in the country. AKP has some of the most famous alumni that include Richard Nixon and 500 other executives.
  4. Betta Gamma Sigma: Is a scholastic honor society for business administration. This group is recognized by the AACSB (association of advance collegiate school of business). "To be eligible for membership, students' academic rankings must place them in the upper 10 percent of the junior class, upper 10 percent of the senior class, or upper 20 percent of the graduate/master class".   5. Phi Beta Lamba: "Phi Beta Lambda provides opportunities for post secondary students to develop vocational competencies for business and office occupations and business teacher education. Phi Beta Lambda promotes a sense of civic and personal responsibility, while fostering leadership and professionalism". [6]
  6. Pi Sigma Epsilon: Fraternity for sales, marketing and management majors. Have experience with many companies and they give their members experience in the business world.

Rankings and Recognition[edit]

  • Recognized by the [ http://www.aacsb.edu AACSB] for accounting and business. Only 168 other business schools have both been recognized for those tow majors.
  • The Bloomsburg report has ranked ISU's business undergraduate program at 95th overall in the country [7]
