Rudy Simone Rudy Simone (April 22, 1964 – ) is the author of three books on Asperger Syndrome, “Asperger's on the Job: Must-have Advice for People with Asperger’s or High Functioning Autism, and their Employers, Educators, and Advocates” (Future Horizons 2010) Foreword by Temple Grandin; “Aspergirls: Empowering Females with Asperger Syndrome” (Jessica Kingsley 2010) Foreword by Liane Holiday Willey; and “22 Things a Woman Must Know If She Loves a Man with Aspergers Syndrome” (Jessica Kingsley 2009).

Rudy promotes a “cultural exchange” between the non-autistic and autistic communities, stating that most autistic differences are not deficits, just different ways of receiving, processing and communicating information received. She also promotes self-advocacy and management of the challenges inherent in Asperger Syndrome. She coined the term “Aspergirls” to denote the underserved, under-acknowledged females on the autism spectrum, and the “glass wall phenomenon” to describe the difficulties people have on the spectrum communicating and connecting with others, which causes social isolation and workplace difficulties. She speaks regularly at autism and asperger conferences around the country and blogs for Psychology Today.

Rudy is also the author of a fantasy novel “The Fool: Part I – Orsath the Singer” (2010 Prettiest Star) and is a steadily performing jazz singer and comedian. She is also one of the subjects in the upcoming documentary “Too Sane for this World” by William Davenport and Sean Paul Sullivan.
