User:Diary of a Dress Historian

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My name is Lucy McConnell. I am a Dress and Textile Historian, and am currently a final year PhD Candidate at the University of Leeds, and Wikimedia Champion at the University.

My subject specialisms include the British government's Utility Clothing Scheme between 1941 and 1945, and textiles produced in Paisley, Scotland (with particular focus on the 'Paisley shawl'). My research interests range from the eighteenth century to the present day, and focus on hidden histories, through material culture and object analysis, social, economic, political, cultural, and technological historical exploration.
