Trapdoor Social is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in November of 2011[1] by Skylar Funk Boorman (vocals, guitar, piano) and Merritt Graves (vocals, keyboards). Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie serves as the band's drummer on studio recordings. Bandmates Boorman and Graves first met in the Environmental Analysis program at Pomona College but did not form the group until after graduating.[1] Trapdoor Social's music has been described as "passionate alt-pop"[2] and as an "eclectic collaboration"[3] between Boorman and Graves' musical influences. The band has stated its intention to couple its musical efforts with environmental activism, including support of alternative energy and involvement with green companies.[1][3] On June 11, 2012, the band released its debut six song EP, Death of a Friend.[4]
