One of the many letters between America and Morocco was one of the George Washington and Muhammed Ibn Abdullah. This letter was composed in the city of New York December 1, 1789. George Washington speaks on his authority and leadership of the United States and the miscommunication between Morocco and America. George Washington expresses his regrets in lack of punctuality but clarifies that the timely response was due to change in government and wanting to communicate on solidified terms. George Washington also shows appreciation for Muhahhed Ibn Abdullah's diplomatic initiative tactics in protection of American ships from private attackers (pirates). These actions are appreciated because of the lack of power United States as a country had held at the moments. As Morocco was one of the first Arab, African, Muslim states to sign a treaty with America. As America was a nation shy of economical sources at the time. Another war would have been detrimental to it's growth. George Washington writes this letter to the Sultan of Morocco, Muhammed Ibn Abdullah, in good faith and respect in their future endeavors.
