Williamson started his footballing career at the age of 11 when he was spotted by Manchester United scouts playing for St.Bernards school team. Williamson joined United's Acadamy shortley after where he spent 3 years before being released and signing for Bolton Wanderers.

While still in the U18 side, he made his reserve debut for Bolton at Hull City in March 2007. Promoted to the reserve team at the start of the 2007-08 season, he first featured in the Lancashire Senior Cup triumph over Oldham Athletic. He was subsequently picked out as one of the reserve team to watch by The Times sport writer Tony Barrett.[2]

Williamson only stayed one season at Wanderers where he and fellow former Bolton acadamy player Daniel Hill joined Morcambe F.C. He made Two League appearance's in his time there but failed to find the back of the net.

Williamson played the full 90 minutes in Morcambe opening League Two game of the season at home to Swindon. The game ended 1-1.[3] Williamson played the full 90 minutes in Morcambe's 3-1 away win against Exeter City in the League Cup and made a late substitute appearance away to Brighton & Hove Albion in the following round of the same competition. He made his third appearance a week after his 17th birthday, replacing Rob Smith in Morcambe's 5-1 win over Barrow AFC in the third round of the FA Cup.[4]

Willamson was released following the conclusion of the 2009-2010 season, where he then joined local non-league side Hyde, where he has been a key figure, Scoring on his debut against Vickerstown and winning Hyde's player of the season in his debut season. Other players of well reknown are former Liverpool acadamy right back Daniel Hill, and Blackburn striker Luke Hudson.

Following a series of impressive performances, Williamson was offered a trial for Barrow AFC, Barrow Manager David Bayliss was reportedly impressed with Williamson's pace and ability to get past a man, Williamson is belived to be registered by January 1st. Which is the start of the next transfer window.
