From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RSSBus (Really Simple Service Bus) is an architecture aiming at the creation of service buses using RSS, published by /n software inc While sometime referring to the concept of the Enterprise Service Bus in its whitepaper[1], RSSBus is really different and aims at extending the individual use of RSS feeds.

This architecture shares a lot of features with Yahoo! Pipes, however while Yahoo's software needs no installation(as it is a Web Application), the RSSBus tools needs to be installed.

Use Case Example[edit]

Here are two example of what can be done with this architecture:

  • Creating a RSS feed with the list of folders on a local computer
  • Creating a RSS feed with the statement of one's bank account

Philosophy[edit]

According to /n software inc a RSS feed is a Web Service:

"The simple answer is: "RSS Feeds are Web Services". Whether that answer is acceptable to you or not depends of course on your definition of a Web Service."

[2]

This assumption is based on the REST point of view of Web Services.
