The early years: Born: Michael (aka Doc) Roy Martin of Wichita, KS To Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Martin also of KS. Doc has one brother: Tim Martin of Austin Tx. When Doc was two years old, the family of three at the time moved to Bishop Tx. Little Brother Tim was born shortly after. The family built their own home on third St. in Bishop Tx. in 1950. Shortly after moving to Bishop, Tx. Both of Docs maternal Grandparents were killed in a terrible tornado in KS. The two Martin boys attended grade school at Bishop Elementary School at 200 S Fir Ave, Bishop, TX 78343 The boys graduated into Junior High School at Lillion E Luehrs Junior High School - 717 E 6th St, Bishop, TX 78343 The boys then went on to attend Bishop High School - 100 Badger Lane, Bishop, TX 78343. Doc started playing piano when he was 12 years old. He was 13 when he wrote his first song, and started playing sax when he was in the fifth grade. By the time he was 15, he had his own band. They were called "The Tornadoes." He attended The University of Tx and majored in vocal and composition. He has been on three major record labels being: Epic New York, RCA Free Flight Nashville and Emerald in the UK. He toured with Razzy Bailey for 10 years, Charlie McClaine and has performed numerous times with Percy Sledge. His most memorable performance to date was with Razzy at the Washington Memorial with The Beach Boys in front of 1.5 million people. It was quite the experience! He was also a staff writer at Tree Publishing in Nashville and session leader on Ronnie McDowels "The King Is Gone" Tribute to Elvis Presley that went multi platinum. Doc shared in three cash box awards for independent labels in 1989 with Razzy Bailey. Doc was a member of the band Rose Tattoo at the Boulder Station Casino in Las Vegas. Doc has been in Nashville for quite a few years as a member of the band The Chessmen, and also The Nashtones. Most recently, his proudest achievement is being the co producer/ co writer and director of The Mandy Mason Project which is on Spotify. Doc says this is his finest accomplishment to date in his musical career. Doc is looking forward to the success of this project.
