16th Century[edit]

In the 1599 Gorla Minore, was reign over by the Terzaghi family originated from Milan. Giovanni Terzaghi who had become the major canon of the Duomo quoted in his testament the Oblati with the promise to keep always active the life of the church of San.Maurizio by giving the Oblati this duty.

During the 1600 all Italy was governed by the Spanish, during this time the cultural situation was growing and flourishing thanks to the help of important figures such as Michelangelo and Caravaggio for the art side or Galileo for science.

In this background of progress and beauty start the life of the Collegio degli Oblati then it will be call Collegio Rotondi.

The College, thanks to his very innovative teaching method, became a cultural pole and his fame increased. At the begging the role of the Rector was mixed with the Prefect of the Church of San Maurizio, as Terzaghi specify in his testament.

With the continuous development of the scholar activities, the Rector figure amplified his mansions such as manage the school, coordinate the work of the teachers and all the administrative duties.

17th Century[edit]

In this century of change guided by the philosophy movement of rationalism and the growth of more affirmation of science, overwhelms Milano that became one of the main pole of the illuminism. With the presence of notable people such as Alessandro Verri, Cesare Beccaria and Giuseppe Parini.

In this scenario the Collegio it updates and modernizes following the progress of the 1700. The renovation works permits to amplified the structure by building the the main central building and the central courtyard this one nowadays as is was it in past represent a meeting point for the people of the Collegio.

In the meanwhile the Collegio starts to cooperate and collaborate with the institutional authorities at that time who was it the austrians. The institutional authorities recognized the work of the Collegio and his capacity to always be at the forefront.

18th Century[edit]

This century is characterized by the House of Savoy that succeeded in the aim of the unification of Italy 1861, by the application of a strong political and diplomatic affair with the major European family powers.

This important event was made it with aim to contrast the power of the church and the Pope Pius IX at that time. For this reason the Collegio lived a hard and difficult time, with the fear of being cancelled. All the century is characterized by the conflict with the institutional authorities that wanted to restrict his autonomy and take their heritage.

Thanks to the help of the two rectors Sioli and Rotondi with a series of legal machination, they managed to free the Collegio from the congregation of the Oblates. This permits to the Collegio to have less pressure from the institutional authorities thus allowing to survive this tension period.

With the rector Rotondi the Collegio become a catholic school guided by the Cardinal (Catholic Church) Archbishops of Milan but it always remained independent.

In the meantime the Collegio is experiencing growth, steadily expanding to accommodate the evolving demands and requirements placed upon it by the industrial revolution of the territory.

La Cappella dell'Immacolata[edit]

The director Don.Giovanni Re wanted to build the Cappella dell'Immacolata for becoming a sign for the religious life of the Collegio.

After the wart the sacerdote Carlo Crotti modernize the structure and enrich the church with new artwork.

The structure renovation creates a bigger nave where in the stairways is present the coat of arms of the Collegio.

On the walls the stained glass windows are decorated with the representation of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church.

The ceiling is decorated by the representation of Saint Charles Borromeo who is the founder of the Oblates and Aloysius Gonzaga who is the protector of the youth, in act of adoring the Mary, mother of Jesus and her child Jesus.

Above the altar is located a big painting which is depicted Canonical coronation. The paintings was inaugurated with a ceremony with the presence of Pope Paul VI.

Partnership and Collaboration[edit]

Presently, the Collegio Rotondi, much like in historical times, maintains collaborative partnerships with various institutions, including the University of Rome La Sapienza, Sportpiù, Polisportiva, and Altomilanese. This collaborative effort aims to consistently remain at the forefront of academic and extracurricular endeavors.
