This is a list of article titles that may confuse some users. It's like the “I Thought It Meant” page at TV Tropes, but with titles from Wikipedia. You are welcome to edit it at your will.

0 to 9[edit]

  • Any title with a year in it is not translated to the Japanese calendar in Japan. For example, Nineteen Eighty-Four isn't Shōwa 59 in Japan.
  • 0.999... has many redirects, but 0.9 isn't one of them.
  • 1300 AM and all higher numbers are correct and should not be PM. Similarly, 860 AM and anything else with a middle digit of 6, 7, 8, or 9 are perfectly fine.
  • 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios were not created via square/square root relationship.
  • 3G, 4G, and 5G are not a linear progression. For example, when 6G comes out, it isn't exactly twice 3G.
  • 4Kids and Kars4Kids are unrelated.
  • 50 Cent is not about the coin.
  • 538 is about the year, not the website.

  • Acroterion is not about the Wikipedia editor.
  • (album) is not a malformed page with only a disambiguator.
  • Aminal is not a childish misspelling of animal.
  • Angers is not angry.
  • Arsenal, at the base title, is not about the sports team.

  • Java, at the base title, is not about the programming language.
  • While Fonzie may have jumped a shark in the episode of Happy Days that gave this its name, Jumping the shark does not usually involve jumping over sharks.

  • The National Mall is not a shopping mall, although it's in a dense enough area that you're within walking distance of many stores.

  • Old Zealand redirects to Zeeland, not Zealand.
  • Orly and Yarly are not about a meme involving an owl.

  • Piggies is not a redirect to Pig.
  • Portal, North Dakota is on the US/Canada border. Don't expect to see any portals at the border; it's a regular border crossing.
  • The pound sterling is no longer made of silver.
  • A power chord is not what you use to plug in your device, nor is it the chord that plays when you press the on button of a computer.
  • .py does not refer to the Python file extension.

  • Queens is not a redirect to the singular form Queen.

R[edit]

  • Roanoke, Virginia is in the western part of the state and has nothing to do with the historical colony.
  • Russian mat and Persian rug have nothing to do with each other.
  • There are several minor variants of roulette, mostly regarding the number of zeroes and what happens when a ball lands in zero. Russian roulette is not one of them.

  • Three dollar coin is about real, but historical, currency. Three dollar bill is about fake currency.
  • Togo is not about take-out food.
  • Torii are not torus-shaped.
  • You can take a tour of Tours, but that's not how it got its name.
  • While Charles Trump is in elected office as a Republican, he is not part of the Trump family.
  • Turkey is not about the animal.
  • Twice is not a dictionary definition of the word.
