The third season of The X Factor Canada is set to premiere on Sunday August 28, 2016 on CTV. This season the judging panel will consist of Canadian tenor Fraser Walters, American R&B singer and dancer Ciara and new judges Carly Rae Jepsen and Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy.

This season will mark some changes as the arena auditions, home visits, and the six chair challenge will be removed following criticism from the previous season. The room auditions, on which a solo artist or group (max 5 members), will have to sing acapella with or without instruments in front of the judges. A new addition to this season will be the judges' cuts, a similar format to its parent franchise, Got Talent.

Four guest judges will automatically save one act from each respective category (Boys, Girls, Groups, Overs) and send them directly to the live shows. The four guest judges were announced as Hedley (band) frontman Jacob Hoggard, Grammy Award winner Meghan Trainor, Country singer Paul Brandt and former X Factor UK and Australia judge Dannii Minogue. A total number of 32 acts (8 each from each category) will be revealed during the season and 16 will make the live shows. The show will be dedicated to the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire victims and all proceeds will go towards donation.
