Figured as much. I'm still not too happy about that article (there is lots of information with far too few refs, IMO), but as a starting point it is definitely leaps and bounds beyond the abomination we currently have in place. Thanks for putting your time into this as well. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); April 1, 2010; 17:15 (UTC)

By the by, I left you a question re your Occoquan Reservoir DYK nom. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); April 1, 2010; 19:11 (UTC)

Sharabha[edit]

Hi Blofield. The article Sharabha is on hold (Talk:Sharabha/GA1) due to prose issues. Since both the nominators, Nvvchar and I are not native English speakers, I request you to copyedit the article. Thank you. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:27, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

I am back from Jammu. I add my request also to the above for editing Sharabha. Thanks. --Nvvchar (talk) 10:40, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Shall I record on the GA talk page that we have requested you to do the copy editing? I have almost completed the Thommanan (Combodia) draft and we should be able to post it to night. Two more artciles are getting ready after my visit to Jammu. I will post them tomarrow, after I upload the pictures. --Nvvchar (talk) 10:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. I will take a look at your comments on the talk. --Redtigerxyz Talk 12:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for constructive criticism. I have removed the Gandaberunda section and added a referenced sentence in Vaishnavite views. Please take a look.--Redtigerxyz Talk 13:45, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the help on Dal Lake. See the Cambodia draft article now. I have added some text with new references and imgs.--Nvvchar (talk) 13:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the detailed copy editing on Dal Lake. I have added a reference to the fact in the Flora and fauna section. I am trying to locate the reference for the attractions sections. I will also add to reference in the Mountain Railways of India article. --Nvvchar (talk) 15:23, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Clarified about the boar sons. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:41, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I have already expressed my inability to improve Chittorgarh Fort in terms of references. Thanks for your assurance about Elephanta. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
User:NielsenGW has started copyediting Elephanta. Instead, I will request you to copyedit Nvvchar's other articles at GAN like Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. They deserve to be GAs, but may face the prose issues hurdle. Another selfish request is: please give suggestions for improvement for Iravan, an article I plan for a FAC. Thanks again. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:21, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Can you look at Iravan too PLease. --Redtigerxyz Talk 12:43, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

List of Polish United Workers' Party members[edit]

Of course, you're right! I think this list is very notable and there are no reasons to delete it, but there are no politicans from [1] and [2] there. For example, Władysław Gomułka, who was PZPR leader in the 1960s is not on the list. If you want, I can try to add these people. DK4]]$4 (Contribs) 12:30, 2 April 2010 (UTC) The PZPR had many millions of members. The majority of them were submissive, some became popular acting against the party, so they weren't notable as members but after the expulsion. Memebers of the PRL Sejm weren't notable as members of the Sejm, the majority of them did nothing interesting. The notabilty of many is doubtful in Polish Wikipedia, zero here.Xx236 (talk) 09:02, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Kumbakonam[edit]

I'm working to take this article to GA. But I somewhat feel that the lead is not good enough. Could you please help me rewrite the lead. :-)-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 16:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! :-) Yes, you are right about the lack of FAs and GAs on towns; atleast this is 100% true as far as Wikiproject Tamil Nadu is concerned. You might find that Chennai is the only city in Tamil Nadu which has a featured article in Wikipedia. Articles on other major towns like Madurai, Coimbatore and Tiruchirapalli lag far behind. I feel that this scenario exists largely due to lack of awareness about Wikipedia. I feel that it would be best if we received more contributions from local residents than outsiders. But unfortunately, we have very few dedicated Wikipedians from mofussil areas. And the few who do edit Wikipedia, too, have misconceived notions about the project. Most are under the impression that Wikipedia is some sort of travel guide and repeatedly add unencyclopedic nonsense like stuff on bus numbers and good hotels to reside. User:Sodabottle from Coimbatore might be an exception. But he does not contribute much to Coimbatore article.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 00:43, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

How is this here? I suppose the coordinates could be moved to the infobox as well, but there aren't too many, so that could be done in a second pass. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 22:20, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:SandorZifferselfportrait.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SandorZifferselfportrait.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 20:46, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Ambrosden[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld. Thanks for your excellent work on improving Dal Lake. I've also reviewed your nomination Ambrosden. What is in it is good (and of GA standard), but I consider that more material is needed, so the review is currently On Hold. I've mentioned one week, but as long as progress is being made, that time can be flexible. Pyrotec (talk) 12:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Have a think about it, for a day or few days. The review has started so it has to finish (either as a Listing or non-listing). The Victoria history can found at [3], there is google earth and Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Oxfordshire might provide avenues for possible assistance. Pyrotec (talk) 13:48, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure. I will try my best. First, I need to get a feel of the terrain. One weeek is a long time.--Nvvchar (talk) 12:53, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Memorial Chorten[edit]

I have completed my inputs for the above article. --Nvvchar (talk) 10:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

I have a small issue on the History section. I took this para from the History section of the Srinagar article -"When the disintegration of the Mughal Empire set forth after the death of --Nvvchar (talk) 10:43, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Aurangzeb in 1707, infiltrations to the valley from the Pashtun tribes increased, and the Durrani Empire ruled the city for several decades. Raja Ranjit Singh in the year 1814 annexed a major part of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, to his kingdom, and the city came under the influence of the Sikhs." I have been searching for the relevant reference which has eluded me particularly for the Aurangzeb part. The other part I have the reference. How do I resolve it? This is the reason for my delay in comlying fully in fixing references to the tags (two tags can be refrenced but the Aurangzeb part is difficult). --Nvvchar (talk) 10:43, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much for fixing the references. I hope the GA will be through now.--Nvvchar (talk) 12:25, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, Chamba, Himachal Pradesh should be taken to GA. It is also our joint DYK. I am glad that you are giving me suggestions for improving the article. I will work on it. You know, when you had declared retirement, I posted the Sera Monastery Artilce also on GAN. I suppose it is moslty complete. May be it needs your some expert English inputs.--Nvvchar (talk) 14:07, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
You are right. We must concentrate on GANs. I will be in USA for two weeks starting this 8th till 23rd, at San Diego. Less office pressure and more wikimania.--Nvvchar (talk) 14:30, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Ambrosden composite[edit]

I will be glad to work on it - may take me a day or two. Thanks for asking (and I see you are back to your former user name). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Here you go! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:04, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Glad you like it - while not as flashy as Sin City, it looks like a nice place. I was pleased the Ice Rink passed FAC (did a copyedit on it during FAC, always a fun experience). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:36, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Not at all. There is definite need to fix proper refrences. Thanks. I have been able to get some references on Ambrodsen. I will add some text later in the evening. I was very busy in the office today as we are trying to sell off our firm.--Nvvchar (talk) 12:45, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Thankyou for the composite image on Ambrosden, and to Ruhrfisch for composing it. However, I am not convinced that it adds clarity to the article. One image in the infobox of a village landmark (such as a parish church, mediaeval cross, a group of historic cottages or perhaps an ornate village sign on the green) is large enough to give the reader a single clear mental reference point with which to link the village with the article. A composite of four or six images results in every picture being very small, and no one of them stands out as a mental reference point for the village. Also I find it frustrating that clicking on the composite leads to an enlargement only of the composite and not of the individual images.
Shrinking images into a composite may particularly disadvantage the viewer if there are problems with some of the original images. Most of the photos in the Ambrosden composite have been taken without using a graduated filter. As a result the subject is too dark to be seen clearly and the sky is too white. This is bad enough for viewers with good eyesight, but I suspect will be worse for visually impaired readers.
I've added photo's of parish churches that I took with a graduated filter to the Hailey, Oxfordshire and North Leigh articles. Both are a rather grey and a bit dark bacause I took them on a wintry afternoon in failing light. However, the filter has balanced the contrast enough for the viewer to make out details of the subject. In due course I hope to replace both photos with ones taken on a brighter day.
If an article is sufficiently detailed, it will be long enough to benefit from a number of images of individual subjects to illustrate individual sections and paragraphs. Some, but not all, of the Ambrosden images are beneficially distributed in this way. Please may I suggest that we revert to individual images in this case?
This is not meant personally against either you or Ruhrfisch! I have worked on hundreds of Wikipedia articles about Oxfordshire villages. Some users have contributed far worse images to many of those articles, including ones little better than silhouettes in which one can see almost nothing. Now that spring is here I hope eventually to potter around some of those villages and take properly graduated photos that should improve some of the articles. This will take me ages, and as the Ambrosden article has at least some good enough images it won't be one of my higher priorities.
I don't intend my comments to be negative! Both you and Ruhrfisch have worked hard to develop the Ambrosden article. I get fairly limited collaboration to expand Oxfordshire articles and would welcome more. Please let me know what you think - and especially if I have caused unintended offence, which is the last thing I want!
Best wishes always, Motacilla (talk) 13:47, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Not offended, but I find it a little odd that you care enough about this image, which I think is an improvement to an otherwise bland looking image and offers a more balanced village view, but seem unconcerned about the article itself, even while it is on hold for GA. Only geograph images are available, so as for the images not being of a substantial size, well the images are pretty small anyway.t would be different if better quality larger images were available of the village. I could start tomorrow, I have two more to do first. I'm not offering an opinion, that would not be objective. Pyrotec (talk) 21:02, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I could not sit through last night to add from all the new references you had mentioned. Was very tired. Thanks for the additions to the text and editing. This morning, I have made some minor editing. I suppose the article is now almost complete. I hope to add to Ambrosden today. Can you have a look my DYK Kyaiktiyo Pagoda on the nomination page which is sitting at the bottom for several days? I also find some instructions "Add text, Roll over text" under many DYK articles with imgs. What is the requirement on this? --Nvvchar (talk) 02:27, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I have added some text to Ambrosden on your user page. Three book references are very good. You may like to add more on the Manor from these sources. I will continue with my inputs later in the evening. --Nvvchar (talk) 09:36, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Some of book references have old pictures of Church and the Manor. Since the books are more than 70 yaers old, may be you could upload some of the pictures provided you can get hold of the oroginal books from a library.--Nvvchar (talk) 09:44, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
I have added some more text to the article in the main space. This reference is the most comprehensive and probably you may like to change some text and also add more from this British History Online--Nvvchar (talk) 02:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it is good now. I don't know if all issues raised by the GA reviewer haven addressed. You may like to nominate this on DYKUser:Nvvchar/sandbox/Saptha Badri after copy editing. I will be travelling tonight and will be in USA on 9th evening. --Nvvchar (talk) 12:47, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I am in your country for two weeks. Thanks for the edit on Bahu Fort and moving it to main space. Please nominate it on DYK. My hooks seem to be getting into too many comments, as has happened in the case of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda. In the case of the Sera Monastery, which is now under review, is it necessary to find references to all the distinguished allumni since the internal blue links have been provided that give the references. I will now work on the other article on Manasalu peak in Nepal.--Nvvchar (talk) 00:38, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
My apologies for the wrong identification of your country. Your deep interest of India in particual and vbing with Indians should heave made it clear to me. If you are upset please consider it as my stupidity --Nvvchar (talk) 15:18, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

As regards Ambrosden, it is not clear whether reviewer wants more info or clearing it as now fianlly edited. What about Bahu Fort.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:18, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I am happy that you are not offended. My observation on your interest in Indian issues was more on the basis of the articles that you have contributed and edited over the years. I know your interest are truly "global" since you are covering subjects on most nations. Slowly, I am following you, to start with Asian and South Asian nations. I hope you have no objection to my calling you an Indophile. Another indophile whose books I like, as he has written excellent books related to India, is William Dalrymple. I am currently reading his book on White Mughals. Highly educative. But I have no interest in Cinema.and my interest in music is limited to hearing good music Indian or English. Thank you.--Nvvchar (talk) 18:22, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Nice to know about your deep interest on Tibet from childhood. Hindus and Tibetans believe in rebirth. May be you were a Tibetan in your last birth, that is if you believe in the Hindu and Buddhist philosophy of "Rebirth". If we get all the photos of Sera Hermitages that we have not completed so far then we can do one more 6 articles hook. I liked the comment by John Hill on this page on Punakha Dzong. Can we upgrade it to GA and also Patuxai?--Nvvchar (talk) 19:33, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
If you have not nominated the Bahu Fort, here is my suggestion for the DYK Hook (the first para of lead) Hook …that the Bahu Fort in Jammu, India built by Raja Bahulochan some 3,000 years ago and recently refurbished by the Dogra rulers has a goddess Kali temple, the presiding deity of Jammu?--Nvvchar (talk) 21:47, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Please have a look at this article Kedarnath Wild Life Sanctuary, a DYK m nominee a few months ago, which went on a spin because after it was reviewed postively, was contested by another user for close paraphrasing (talk page gives details). My view was supported by Tinu, but I thought it prudent to withdraw the nomination as the discussions of the DYK page itself was unsavoury. I still don't agree and do not know how it is violative of copy rights rules. Hence, I have not made any changes. You may like to have a look at the article and see if it can be posted on GA if you find it OK, after your copy editing. Thanks. --Nvvchar (talk) 22:12, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Will you kindly edit this article Chitradurga Fort at user page, before I post it again for GA. I have complied with all observations of the reviewer, except the legend. If I find reference it could be reatined, otherwise deleted. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 07:41, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, hello![edit]

Thanks so much for checking up on me. Yes, I have had my head down a bit for several days and for several reasons. I am O.K. but not very well (almost constant back pain), or energetic, is one reason. I go to see a neurosurgeon on the 15th about a possible lower back operation which might fix some of my difficulties and hopefully reduce the pain after some months being laid up in bed; but I am not very enthusiastic about this (and neither is my G.P.). The other reasons include the fact I had to drive my wife Jo to Cairns (about 700 km round trip) and spend a few days there while she had her first cataract operation (which has been a great success - already she is able to see things she hasn't been able to see for years!!!! It will take about a month though before it is all healed up). And then, next year, hopefully, she will go in to get the other one done.

Also, we have had the heaviest wet season in years and everything is covered in mould and our solar system is not getting enough sunshine to allow me to do as much computering as I would like - we have had over 2 metres of rain since the beginning of the year! But, the main reason is I (like the silly old fool that I am) kicked the screen of my laptop really hard getting out of bed last week and broke the rear hinge of the screen and damaged the wireless equipment and the CD/DVD player/recorder is also broken. It is obviously not worth getting it fixed properly as it is out of warranty, though I have managed (after many hours of fighting with it) to at least get it working in a sort of a way. I really can't afford another one at the moment - especially as we are planning two BIG trips overseas this year - so I am trying to work out what to do. I think I might change my name to Job!

All my programs, hard drive, RAM memory, etc., are fine so I am trying to see if the company would possibly sell me a shell of a machine into which I could move the old hard drive, RAM, etc. This would also save me having to set up all my programs, and so on, again and - most important - hopefully save some cash. I expect to hear back on this tomorrow.

However, in spite of all the trials and tribulations I have managed to create a couple of new articles a couple of days ago which might be of some interest to you: Cho-ne Monastery and Jonê Town, some fairly large additions to Labrang Monastery and did quite a bit of other Wiki editing as well as some notes for my next book. So, I haven't dropped totally off the planet yet! Look forward to keeping in touch - but if there are periods were I seem to have disappeared - do not worry too much.

And after all that - how are you, my friend? I notice you have been working on English villages and other subjects I know nothing about - but I do look forward to collaborating further with you where I can. I send you very warmest wishes from the other side of the world. Cheers! John Hill (talk) 11:02, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Iravan[edit]

Chamba looks good, though I have not got enough time to go through it in detail. Thanks for brilliantly rewording the first para of Iravan, though there are a few minor changes I wish to make in it, in view of the concerns on Talk:Iravan#First_paragraph_of_lead. If you would prefer, please make edits to para 1 in view of the concerns. The lead of Iravan has not reached perfection as yet. Even I sense the need of a shorter lead. Please help in remodelling the lead, remove anything that you feel not so relevant in the lead. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:06, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick fix. Have a nice rest today. See you soon. --Redtigerxyz Talk 14:05, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm hoping you might have a moment to drop by my sandbox page and have a look at a new article I'm trying to put together. It needs some copyediting (that's the least of problems creating an article for the first time) but also I'd like some input for folks who are interested in mountaineering (and Sherpas, of course) before I move it to article space. I'd appreciate any help if you're interested. Steveozone (talk) 07:14, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Villages in Turkmenistan[edit]

Hi Dr Blofeld,

You have contributed much to the article List of cities, towns and villages in Turkmenistan. However, there are numerous repetitions. For example I've counted more than 10 Imeni Molotova's. Most of the entries are not linked. So I don't know if they refer to different villages with the same name or not. I also checked the linked entries and found that they are linked to the very same article. (It is also obvious in the edit page) I am not from Turkmenistan. So I don't feel qualified to clear out some entries. Have a good day. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 13:02, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations once again![edit]

Congratulations once again - my friend - the article looks absolutely beautiful! I will read the text tomorrow. How did you get all those wonderful photos (I have trouble finding good ones for the articles I create - can you help, please?). Anyway, you have earned yourself a myriad of blessings for this article. I am sure at least ten lifetimes of bad karma have been dissolved. Cheers, John Hill (talk) 11:56, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Eastwood[edit]

I finished the biography, so I'll probably be adding sources to his article and some of his film articles later this weekend. He definitely has had a great career, but some of his personal life events are pretty crazy. I just got Dirty Harry and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on Blu-ray, so I'm looking forward to watching those again. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 05:48, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Sera Monastery[edit]

Kudos to you. Sera GA is through. It was a huge effort. Thanks for the editing on Phumdi. The image in the infobox is clear in my computer. Any way, you have replaced it. Fine. Since the original article was part of the four articles hook comprising Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao National Park, and Eld's Deer I did not add a wild life section. I will add it now. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 13:24, 11 April 2010 (UTC) I have fixed reference in the Ambrosden article. It was mentioned earlier in the Early History section. So I have added this additonal reference in the etymology esection. I hope it is Ok. The three articles that you have mentioned will be addresed from today after finishing Phumdi. As far GA, under Bhutan articles can we do Tatsang also. On Burma, can I post the article that you have assessed as "B" class posted on GA?--Nvvchar (talk) 14:12, 11 April 2010 (UTC) In addition, I have added Paro Taktsang and Punakha Dzong on GA list of Art and Architecture.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:24, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, Pune article could be done. I am bit low today due to jetlag and unable to work at my normal speed. I hope tomarrow would be a better day. I have fixed most tags in the Phumdi article though one reference is eluding me. I will add on wild life and fisheries aspects tomarrow. I have removed the Phumdi image of the restuarant as you see it in red colour on your PC.--Nvvchar (talk) 22:06, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I have completed my inputs to Phumdi on wild life. I have referenced all tags marked by you. I hope it would be adequate now, since fisheries aspect is covered at many places in the artcile. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 06:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Bahu Fort needs to be posted as it was expanded on 10th. I have started working on Ravi River now. By next week expect to see my darfts on all the above artciles.

Hey[edit]

No problem Blof. Listen Blof I think "Biography is the most appropriate title for Shahrukh Khan's personal life because even his marriage is part of his early life (I mean, before he started his film career). Also, the personal life looks a bit odd now because all the honours mentioned there are not really part of his personal life. As part of his biography, it looks much more appropriate. Pitru Paksha[edit]

Thanks for nominating Thikse Monastery (which was co-nominated DYK by Nvvchar and me) for GAN. Can you please copyedit the Pitru Paksha. It is a short 6k article, which is on hold at GAN, primarily for prose issues. --Redtigerxyz Talk 12:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes. It has passed the "broad in coverage" criterion. You can research about Pitru Paksha and check. All major points are covered. Good to hear about Chamba. It seems to be on the FA path. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:08, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
A "should" is missing in the sentence. Please leave on GA page after the copyedit. I check any other issues after I complete reading Bobby Deol (currently ongoing).--Redtigerxyz Talk 13:42, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Usually the first pitru paksha shraddha is performed in public at a holy water place, and later ones are mostly private. I can't add this without a ref, as it is as good as OR. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Manaslu[edit]

Sorry, Dr. Blofeld for not acknowledging your timely help in getting the Chamba article through GA. I am very pleased with the result and thank you very much. I have added some text to Manaslu today. But there is not enough material to make 5x. I will add some more during the day. Please comment, if I am proceeding on the right lines. Punakha Dzong, yes, I am really surprised that it has come up for review in less than 24 hours after posting on GAN. I will attend to the review comments that are left out after your replies and also to the tags marked by you. Hopefully by this evening it would be done. I was surprised by the very very poor response to the Burma articles (less than 100 hits in each case)- discourages me to further proceed on Burma articles. I was thinking of Tamanthi Dam as suggested by Marcus. Yes, I am feeling much better today.--Nvvchar (talk) 19:18, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

I have added more text to the draft article Manaslu. Can you muster more references to cover enthnicity, trekks in 2000s, till date and also add text? The expansion is still not adequate. Stub article prose ch is 6600 and the present one is still 24000 ch. I did add some text on the main space yesterday without realising that my user page had the draft which you had created. This puts the time limit for the expansion for DYK posting. Hopefully we can do it.--Nvvchar (talk) 17:47, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
My dear Dr Bloefld. I am defenitely not offended with anything that has been done so far. In fact, I also thought that the travel info in Manaslu may not jell. But I did not see any other way to expand the article (by reading the book reference you may decipher something more). As regards the Chitradurga Fort article, I still need your help to take it GA. GA is a tough process and I am slowly picking up. Help from professionals like you in this field is most essential. You have been very generous in your help to me. Punakha Dzong GA review is almost finished. The last few observations have been complied with just now. But the reviewer is not very fond of too many imgs. I find that you have changed the name of Paro Taktsang to Taktsang Dzong. A correct step. Where did you get the adtional ims that you have now added? I will fix references to tags.--Nvvchar (talk) 19:03, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I have added additional text of about 5000 ch from relaible government sources. This should work for DYK now. Nice message from John Hill. In fact, I consider Sera Monastery as the best article that I have been associated with, thanks to you. --Nvvchar (talk) 01:21, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
No messages from you for the last two days. I hope you are keeping well.--Nvvchar (talk) 16:11, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Updated India state locator maps[edit]

Hi, i happened to notice the change of the locator maps of some Tamil Nadu articles, and traced that you had initiated the change. I had made the initial set of maps a long time back and i'm happy someone is finally taking the effort to work on it. Although i must say that i am a bit disappointed with the ones that have been added. The new maps are a step forward visually but seems to go a few steps back on the information front:

  1. One can no longer find how close the place is to transport infrastructure like roads/rail
  2. Proximity to the district headquarters or state capital

Since you are taking away this information with a proposed mass update of Indian maps which would affect over 20,000 pages, it would be worthwhile to discuss weather such data is required or not in the updated maps -- PlaneMad|YakYak 12:28, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me, but I requested you update the maps ages ago from the silly colours you insist on using. Yet you refused to do anything about it. You told me "no", so why is it now somebody else is bothering to create some that you are opposed, when you could have solved the problem ages ago. I'm not the only one who thinks the new maps are improvement. In terms of visual quality they are a leap forward. I requested well over a year ago now that you try to improve the graphics of them by removing the colours and following the guidlines of the conventional svgs. If you would still like to create some with your requirements but without the amateurish colours I'd like to see them. But really, pushpin map are not supposed to contain "information". They are supposed to show a town within an area as clearly and as plainly as possible. If you would knidly recreate the maps like the above one with the railway lines and dots faintly in black rather than red without the colours in the same graphic as above I'd support the change. But somethhing really needs to be done about these maps. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:44, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Just to be clear, i'm not opposed to anyone updating my series of maps wich i made over 2 years ago, the sole reason i made them was as a starting point for others to improve upon it. I no longer have the free time to work on this data since i am busy trying to build a free gis database for the country. And let me apologize if i did not respond (i dont recall if i did or not), but i would definitely have not said 'no'. I am not going to give you a lecture on making information graphics, as you clearly havent attempted such work, but please dont call the work of someone 'silly' without understanding the rationale behind it, i didn't just pick colors of the moon, but were a part of map guidelines that were in place at that time that was suited for color blind persons. Since all the maps are in the process of getting recreated, it would be good to know what people really think, weather the transport/district hq info is something that was useful or not? -- PlaneMad|YakYak 06:05, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

OK, sorry. "Silly" was a bit harsh. I know you created them in good faith to help wikipedia. I was just a bit miffed when I asked you a long time ago to update them and didn't and now that they are being updated I thought you coming here moaning about it. If you are content with the changes then this is good. Personally I don't think the pin maps need train stations. Besides the dots have little meaning to the average viewer who is clueless as to what town it represents. Doesn't the google map or wiki atlas show railway lines? Congratulations on the excellent article on Sera Monastery[edit]

Great work on the article - it looks fabulous and reads very well. I suggest it should instead be rated EA (Excellent Article). Both you and User:Nvvchar deserve highest praise for all the many magnificent contributions you have been making on Tibetan Buddhist monasteries recently. I apologise for not helping you more but I have beeen really unwell and only feel up to brief edits and creating short articles from time to time. Unfortunately, at times I don't even feel well enough to get up and take a reference book off the shelf beside my bed to find a quote or reference. I am flying to Cairns today to see a neurosurgeon - hopefully to get some short-term relief (cortisone and steroid injections) so I can manage the trips I am planning later this year and I will probably have to undergo a major spinal operation some time next year. In the meantime - please excuse me if I just keep pottering on the way I have been - it's about all I can manage at the moment. But do not do not hesitate to contact me if you think I might be of some help - especially with references. Also, from August to November I expect to be in India - mostly in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Kullu, Spiti and Lahaul - so, hopefully I will get some good photos. Keep up the great work! It is much appreciated! Cheers, John Hill (talk) 21:33, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits[edit]

A recent scan of Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits reminded me that I was suppose to talk to you about something. Oh yeah. I think you were interested in our progress with the Millennium Park WP:FT. There are two things going on with that. We have until September 1 to get two more FAs to retain our FT when the FA % increases to 50%. Toward that end, I have recently started inflating Harris Theater (Chicago, Illinois) with all kinds of content. It should head towards WP:PR next week and WP:FAC a month later. Also Park Grill (a new article) has two more months to make WP:GA or the topic loses its status. Keep up the good work. I am very jealous of your ranking as 007 on the list.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Alejo Carpentier photo[edit]

Hello Dr. Blofeld! I am with a group who is fixing up the Alejo Carpentier article. We are about to submit it for GA status, but unfortunately someone has raised some concern with the rationale for the photo posted. We would like to add more to the rationale so that there is no confusion as to why the picture was chosen. The only problem is is that we don't know where the photo came from (and it's hard to rationalize when you really don't know what you're talking about!). Is there any chance that you could give us some information on where you found the photo (anything other than the website) and if you really could not find any other free-use photos of Alejo Carpentier? Thank-you very much! :) Katie322 (talk) 15:40, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

This map of Osun State is wrongly labelled. It is a duplicate of this of Ogun state. Its not the map of Osun state.

You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Ravi River[edit]

I was concerned knowing that volcanic eruptions and ash had caused lot of problems in UK and Europe. I am happy that everything is fine with you. Thikse can be improved once you are back fully on wiki. In the meantime, pl see this at User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Saptha Badri. I will move it main space after your edits and inputs. Thanks--Nvvchar (talk) 12:45, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

I have completed my inputs to Ravi River article. I will move it to main space for your edits and posting on DYK. As regards, Tea Garden article of Sri Lanka, yes, I am interested in working on it for GA upgrade. Pl dont' post it on GA as yet since it needs expansion with addtional references given in the talk page. I will be starting working on replies to review comments on Mahamuni Buddha Temple. I am working on Tago Monastery in Bhutan and will be posting it on my user page by this evening for your inputs.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:42, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Ravi Beas controversy is a major issue in India with the Tribunal unable to finalise its report. I feel it is relevant in the Indian context. Ravi is central to the legal discussions. Since Ravi is integral to the Indus Treaty, I expanded it to make it fully informative. If you feel some portion supefluos, please delete it. As regards Geology and pollution levels I could not get much info on the web and I don't have books here to quote from. ZI suppose we could add all that the GA stage after I get back to India.
I have made all the necessasry changes in the Mahamuni Buddha Temple to comply with GAN observations of the reviewer. Ihae reconstrcuted the sentences also fixed units except tonnes. Please have a look and may reply on GAN talk page. The observations on references is not very clear to me but I have fixed a seperate reference section now. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 17:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Mahamuni Buddha Temple[edit]

The article Mahamuni Buddha Temple you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Mahamuni Buddha Temple for things which need to be addressed. S Masters (talk) 14:17, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

I have made changes as required by GA reviewer but not replied on the talk page. It is proper that you reply there after adding to or deleting the changes that made by me. Karnataka Architecture article is still not fixed fully with book references and hence I have delayed posting it on DYK. Architecture in Sikkim is also in a similar status. Taktsang Dzong is now under GA review. One unacceptable reference is to be replaced and I am struggling to find suitable references to replace it at five places with similar or equivalent text. Yesterday, I found some info on Ravi River pollution levels and the text has been added. But I could not find anything more on Geology or on the river. Hope you you would be able to find some references to add some more text before posting it on DYK. Manaslu DYK is through. Can I post Patuxai and Kyaiktiyo Pagoda on GAN?--Nvvchar (talk) 15:28, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
In the Taktsang Dzong article, ref 6 is at four more places. The second and third paras of the legend section was taken from reference 6, which is unacceptable as per review. Can you find some text in the books which you have on Bhutan and the Dzon in particular?--Nvvchar (talk) 17:20, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I have also added a few new references.--Nvvchar (talk) 18:44, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
You know that I write river articles with great reluctance. I am unable to find a suitable Hook. It is yet to be nominated. In contiuation we could write on the Thein dam (Ranjit Sagar Dam Project) if we can find some pictures of the dam. I was referring to Tango Monastery. I have started working on it. Beacuse of the two GAs I could not complete it. Another subject of interest is Takin, the National Animal of Bhutan. There is a Takin Zoo in Thimpu. You could start it, if you have some text and imgs, and I can supplement it. As regards Chitradurga Fort, I have fixed all the issues but you have do the copy editing so that I can renominate it.--Nvvchar (talk) 19:10, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Congrats for one more GA. I agree that Thiksey Monastery should go to GAN again. I have print outs in Delhi of Thikse articles. I will try to answer all the observations of the reviwer of GA. But it would still need your expert copy editing. Please give me a crtical opinion of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda and Buddha Dhatu Jadi for posting on GA.--Nvvchar (talk) 21:12, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Alchi has a better reference history except for one reference, which is also the web source ( not a book), which has not been accpeted for Thikse. --Nvvchar (talk) 21:36, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I have done some work on the Lebrang Monastery. I tried to get some more pictures from flickr. There is some confusion about the location of the monastery in China and the author of the img was not sure. I left it at that. You may like to check. I am always game to any multiple article hook. I will do it after my retrun to delhi next week.--Nvvchar (talk) 22:17, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
My suggestion for DYK hook ...that in Pakistan stretch of the transboundary Ravi River (pictured) high pollution levels in the river discharge is attributed to disposal of industrial and agricultural waste water and faulty drainage?
Oh! A bit of less loading on the old man. I will do Thimpu but over time.--Nvvchar (talk) 14:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the award. Coming from you it is special. --Nvvchar (talk) 15:55, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Please see the comment by User:Dahn below the DYK on Ravi River. May like to reply. The alternative hook I suggested could be considered with an img. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 16:19, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

FA nomination for Themes in Avatar[edit]

Dr.Blofeld, thanks for your feedback on Themes in Avatar's GA-nomination. Following yours and Pyrotec's suggestion, I mustered enough courage and nominated it for FA. Hello[edit]

Hello my friend... I need a small favor from you. As you know, I am currently working on Kapoor's article in my sandbox for a while. However, I am yet to be finished and I am planning on adding some new information. When you have the time, could you please take a look at it and let me know what you think of it so far and/or ways that I could improve it further. I would really appreciate this. Thanks :) -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

No. Not until you undo this revert. Also I remember having a conversation with Shahid that details about Globus and her promotions was unencyclopedic. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:27, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

So you're apparently upset because I reverted your addition of the image?? Anyways, Kapoor's association with Globus is important because she launched her own clothing line in association to being their brand ambassador - that was the ONLY reason why I added details about Globus. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:14, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Upset? No I was kidding! I only actually only noticed it after you posted this message!! LOL. But I have to say I prefered that image to the one inf the infobox. I added information about Globus before remember when I developed the article last time? Shahid said it was not notable and that all actors have such endorsements. Honestly, ask him. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:24, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes... I'm very upset. Oh c'mon buddy, I've known you for a while now. I can clearly tell when you're joking or you're serious. :D -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:13, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Haaa, you think that I would not help you promote an article I've also worked so hard on because you made a tiny tweak and took out a single image which is not exactly of the best quality anyway, it's a little blurry...!! Clearly you don't know me I am always be willing to help you, you know this unless you removed like half the article and said "worthless junk" this should be demoted to B class then I would be miffed with you. But in regards to images if you really prefer the minimalist look I'm not sure why you uploaded those images to the commons if you didn't plan on using them!! But in regards to article development, ask Shahid if it is worth having a paragraph on her endorsements. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:51, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

While uploading the images to the Commons, I had a specific goal in mind and I was indeed planning on using them on Kapoor's article. However, I am still yet to finish with the article and ONLY then will I be adding the images. Anyways, IMO I think a paragraph on her endorsement with Globus is important, considering the fact that she became the first Indian actress to launch her own clothing line in association to being their brand ambassador - and I think that it is worth mentioning. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 17:07, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

You have an email. No b***** off my talk page LOL. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:21, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Božena Angelova[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Božena Angelova. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Božena Angelova. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Motithang Takin Preserve[edit]

Here is a new artcile User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 1 on the above subject. There is a one line article on Bhutan Takin, which needs to be merged with this. The infobox needs to be fixed properly with Bhutan flag. I failed to do it.--Nvvchar (talk) 04:34, 20 April 2010 (UTC) Motitong could be developed in due course as a seperate article as it is about urban development while the Prerve comes under Zoos or wild life. You beat me to it on the stub tag - quick work :-). I'll work on the categories later tonight; shouldn't take too long. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:29, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Eep, so had I - thanks for reminding me! I'll look forward to seeing your Bhutan stubs. We had a bit of Bhutan here in DC a couple of years ago - have a look at Smithsonian Folklife Festival for some of the pictures I took. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:43, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I quite agree - if the data is bad then there's no sense in using it. I thought there had been something fishy with fallingrain - it's just been so long that I didn't remember what it was, and thought it might have sorted itself out. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:41, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes - I agree. If there's something known to be reliable, then by all means, let's use it. That's what I like about Statoids.com. (Though they fell down a little on the Papuan population figures, alas - still, not their fault.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:49, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, there's not really a lot missing that Statoids can help with, at this point. Communes of Burundi, districts of Anguilla, counties of American Samoa, mukims of Brunei, some of the districts of Ghana, councils of Guyana, villages of Niue, and some of the districts of Uzbekistan spring to mind, but that's about it - and some of those lack population data. LLGs of Papua New Guinea and subdistricts of East Timor require other sourcing. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:28, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, yes - absolutely. If there were some way to set one up I think it would be wonderful. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:44, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Reply to Slovenian violinists[edit]

Well, the best thing would be to create articles that are clearly notable enough so that they don't end up at AfD at all. :P SilverserenC 18:06, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I disagree. We've both seen full length well referenced articles which would seemingly claim notability up for AFD. It is just a matter of perception of the nominator. Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:09, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

GAN Alchi Monastery[edit]

I nominated this for GA upgrade this afternoon. The review has already started and I have also replied to the issues raised. Please see for any further clarifications. I have mostlty completed changes in Tiksey Monastery as per reviwers comments. However two references are difficult to replace since they are refrenced at several places in the article. I have tried to simplify sentences but there are still some glitches, which would need your expert attention. After completing it you may like to repost it on GAN. Do you want me to reply on DYK review observation on Ravi River? --Nvvchar (talk) 01:01, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

What about GA replies to Mahamuni Buddha Temple?--Nvvchar (talk) 09:26, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the thorough overhaul. I should be able to fix the citations.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:32, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

List of Lithuanian painters[edit]

Hi, I am seriously contemplating deleting all the one-sentence stubs created by you under A3 (no content). They are now tagged as unref'ed BLPs. Thoughts? Renata (talk) 18:20, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, I ask. Would that be beneficial for the encyclopedia in the long term when Lithuanian wikipedia and the Lithuanian encyclopedia contains substantial information about these people. They could be fleshed out like Kęstutis Andziulis, Romualdas Aleliūnas and Aleksas Andriuškevičius. They are not all one liners, and anyway the interwiki tag shows that an effort was being made to get them from Lithuanian into English from another wikipedia so it isn't your classic A3 no content as there was clearly a purpose. Yes they ought to have been started with more content and references but there is no use in moaning about it now. There is an editor Pohick who seems to be working on them. On second thoughts it is way too much work for me to salvage them all. Do whatever you feel is appropriate. I just don't want people moaning at me about "sub stubs" again. Just don't delete any which have been expanded, even unreferenced. Those can be saved. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:58, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Mahamuni Buddha Temple[edit]

I have not been able to locate the two refereences to the face wash ritual. Two pages 163-164 in Schobers' book which contained the related details are now not displayed on google. Can you fix them. I have fixed all other references. --Nvvchar (talk) 22:18, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Doc, thanks for all your help in making this a GA article. Hybernator (talk) 13:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I'd love to cooperate on more Burmese articles too. At this point, I'm primarily focused on completing articles on Burmese history. And it's going slowly... (My part-time job.) After filling out brief articles on all the kings, I do plan to rewrite the existing articles on the major Burmese kings like Anawrahta, Tabinshwehti, Bayinnaung, Alaungpaya, etc. There are enough sources about these figures to make their articles GA worthy. I definitely want to get yours and others' help. I have rewritten some of them: e.g., Razadarit, Minkhaung I and Minyekyawswa. We should be able to extract some DYK nominations. In the mean time, if you have Burma/Burmese related articles that you want double-checked by a native Burmese, please let me know. Thank you. Hybernator (talk) 14:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Jameela Jamil[edit]

I'm afraid I'm not much help here. My initial take is she's of South Asian origin. To me, she doesn't look Burmese, Malay or any other indigenous SE Asian. Of course, she could certainly have some SE or E Asian heritage... (Her eyes and perhaps her skin-tone--though it's hard to tell). It's possible but I'm not sure. Hybernator (talk) 17:05, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Melanie Sykes: Yeah, I guess I can see some SE/E Asian in her. But I wouldn't know which E/SE Asian origin. She could well have had a Thai, or Filipino grandfather to get a similar look. Hybernator (talk) 17:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Lithuanian painters[edit]

ok, i'll do some more of them, but it's thin references in non english speakers, they will probably get AfD'd; btw i'm only doing a little google search, to get refs. Pohick2 (talk) 00:46, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I am in no hurry for mass deletion. I do appreciate the effort. However, note that some of them are on extreme borderline notability even by Lithuanian standards. Renata (talk) 13:13, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Mahamuni Buddha Temple[edit]

The article Mahamuni Buddha Temple you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Mahamuni Buddha Temple for eventual comments about the article. Well done! Thanks for all your hard work! S Masters (talk) 14:15, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Congrats. I have completed the inputs for the Motithang Takin Preserve with a full quote from page 87 fixing refrence to the tag. I have also done some more minor editing. I hope it is now ready for nomination DYK. I have also added inputs to Diskit Monastery with more text in the lead and minor editing. I hope it is now ready for GAN. Please verify. Thanks--Nvvchar (talk) 14:57, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for nominating Architecture of Karnataka. I am still skeptical about nominating it for GA since I am not very comfortable with my referencing ( some errors have been pinoted out on the talk page). I need some time to have a through re-read. There are a large number of dismabugation links to be corrected, which I am doing right now. Also, thanks for nominating Motithang Takin Preserve on DYK.--Nvvchar (talk) 17:37, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

fallingrain[edit]

Hei! I have nuked faiilngrain from the few remaining external links sections for Greenland articles on my watchlist. Should I see more later that realm, I'll remove them too. While I'm here, could I bother you with a proposal to move your stub: 'Angmagssalik Fjord' to the officially sanctioned (new ortography, post-1973) 'Ammassalik Fjord'? I would like to update this article significantly over time, and de-orphan it. Regards, Algkalv (talk) 14:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Bhutan[edit]

I will probably add some text to Druk Air GAN article after I get back to Bhutan if by that time the review is not completed. Did you know that our two articles, Taktsang Dzong and Punakha Dzong, are the only GA articles of Bhutan, so far? I have completed the fixing of disambaguation links and also two dead links of Architecture of Karnataka Article. However, it would still need your skillful copy editing by you.--Nvvchar (talk) 23:12, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

I have added some text toDruk Air article from most reliable references. I hope they are OK.--Nvvchar (talk) 01:05, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
How about Wat Phra Kaew for GAN?--Nvvchar (talk) 03:04, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes I am back in Delhi. But not in Bhutan. Trip to Bhutan has been postponed. User: Russavia and my self have complied with most observations of the reviwer on Druk Air. I don't think I can find more to add. --Nvvchar (talk) 09:51, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I have uploaded four imgs, which are now in the gallery of Trongsa Dzong draft. My laptop is infected with virus and it is very slow. I hope to get it set today. In the Karnataka Architecture article, I have fixed all disambag links. However, the tag about broken link is also not clear to me. Needs your expert attention. I will complete both Bhutan articles by today or tomarrow evening, jet lag permitting. Druk Air is probably ready for you to reply on the GAN review page. Thanks. I have also completed Trango Dzong. You can move it main space and post it on DYK after your copy edits and inputs. Please mention that the expansion of prose part is from 1050 ch to 10865 ch. Thanks --Nvvchar (talk) 15:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
  • We don't have any GAs in Nepal as yet. Why not Tengboche Monastery? You may like to have a second look and mark citations to be fixed before GAN. I am also developing this here User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 5. It should be ready by evening today. --Nvvchar (talk) 23:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Nominated Tango Monastery on DYK. May like to suggest an alternate hook.--Nvvchar (talk) 18:33, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of changing the title from Trongsa to Trongza Dzong. Hence, the conflict in editing. Sorry about it. I was wondering since there was no message from you. I suggest the following hook for the artcile Hook... that the Trongsa Dzong , an extensive complex, is the largest in all of Bhutan, and is set on many different levels consists of 25 temples with a maze of courtyards, passeageways and corridors? I will do some minor editing for unit convesrion and internal links after you finish with your editing. The White Horse temple is still under draft stage and should be ready later in the day. Also see Infobox of another article on Sangamitta of Sri Lanka in my User:Nvvchar/sandbox, which will also be ready today. --Nvvchar (talk) 19:54, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Eastwood[edit]

The article definitely has come a long way (probably a little too long, but condensing comes later). I got sidetracked from starting last week in preparing the Oklahoma City bombing article for the main page. Now that it's mostly stable, I've returned to sourcing Eastwood's article. I went through all the pages I tagged in his biography and sourced random statements in his article. I tagged additional pages to improve some of his film articles and I'll probably get to those this weekend. The book covers all of his recent films, all the way up to Gran Torino and some speculative information about Invictus. I can likely expand the 1995 and up this weekend, but I'll probably need to re-read portions of the book first. After that, some of the larger sections will need to be split off (if not already) and then content remaining can be condensed which will reduce the page size. At some point all of the articles could be improved to at least GA status to get a good/featured topic. At some point! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 05:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I definitely do wish that images were already available under a free license to begin with (I think maybe 5% of the images I've uploaded are already under a compatible license). Maybe I should try going for some bigger targets such as museums, or even the celebrities themselves. Never hurts to ask, and I've been surprised many times. Eastwood seems like many of the characters in his films (maybe that's why he plays them so well!). I always thought that he was this great actor and a nice guy (kind of like a gentle grandfather), but after reading what you already contributed and then this book, I definitely seem in a different light. I just have to look past that and focus on his film work. I'll get to his references later tonight or tomorrow. I'll probably get to adding additional content from the book this weekend. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:01, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
I went through and added a few citations to address the tags and remove some of the unreliable sources. I went to the library yesterday and found another Eastwood biography, and although it's older, I'll at least include a few citations. The reason I removed some of the McGilligan sources is that they were not cited to any particular page (currently, it's reference number 251). We should either get page numbers for those or gradually whittle it out as other sources cover the same details. Something that I think that we should do now to both save time and make the page more manageable is to copy/merge the largest sections into the subpages (and start a page for the 80s/90s). If everything is copied over there, we can dedicate our time sourcing everything on those articles and once we're finished (or what we could call finished!), we can then pull over relevant material back into the main article. In the meantime each of the main article sections would have just a few paragraphs to touch on the subject, which could then be expanded once we've exhausted our sources on the subpages. Otherwise I think that this page is going to get too large and we may have more constant arguments for splitting. In addition, it may be harder to control the vandalism and constant removal of content and having citations being shuffled away from the content they're supposed to source. I think it would also be easier to move over content from the subpages to the main page instead of cutting this down and then trying to move sources into statements that may be reworded differently in the subpages. Does this sound feasible? I'll help out with that section, but it is definitely going to be a challenge to keep it NPOV. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:40, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Falling Rain[edit]

Hi friend! Sorry, I have been more and more out of the loop as I have been going through a rough time with my illness(es). In the meantime I see you you have been as productive as ever. Lots of great work! But I have missed out, apparently, on discussions regarding the use of information from fallingrain.com. Has it been shown that it is unreliable? If so I better get to work removing it as a reference. Please let me know what the go is. Many thanks, John Hill (talk) 08:39, 23 April 2010 (UTC) PS: If we can't use fallingrain - what about Google's www.maplandia.com ? Cheers, John Hill (talk) 08:53, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the info on the on-line gazetteers. It seems like there is a real need for a reliable one - Wiki-style would be good - but it would be nice to have the entries checked for accuracy and then locked (except for later additions or checked up-dates). In other words - a reliable and up-to-date geographical gazetteer. Surly there is some geography graduate or obsessive-type who could start one going???? Cheers and awe-filled respect and praise for your marvellous and extensive recent additions to the Wikipedia. John Hill (talk) 01:29, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Megan Rose[edit]

Know Clint? God I wish I did! Thanks for your comment, but no, I'm just a long term fan. Cheers. Daisyabigael (talk) 15:46, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry Dr! It's not that I'm uninterested it's just that I've been very busy lately - at ork and with my daughter's birthday. Also, I'm not sure how I can help with this that wouldn't involve original research. Sorry to be negative - if I can, I'll have another look when the craziness dies down. All the best. Blofeld... what are you trying to say over here?? I'm kinda confused. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:35, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Now you're taking it the wrong way buddy. I never said that I didn't want you to help me. It's just that during Kapoor's first FAC, there were some reviewers who practically went through every source and started nit-picking the article, pointing out that the source doesn't support this claim, etc. Before your edit, the sources were originally used to show that the film had one of the widest releases in the UK and North American market. I didn't know what you were trying to say - that's all I am trying to say. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:43, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I have noticed how nasty it can get during a FAC and that is why I am trying to use sources that support the claims provided. I have replaced several sources with new ones and I happy with the way the article is progressing. Anyways, I seriously didn't mean to offend you. I could have easily reverted your edit without asking you (and I know that would've been rude); for that very reason, I wanted to find out what you were trying to say. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 17:13, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Jameela Jamil[edit]

I take your point that her ethnicity may be of some importance for the Wiki article - but I don't believe it is critical. There seems to be a real furore on the internet at the moment about her ethnic background - I am sure all will be revealed before too long by one of the numerous celebrity magazines or programs which are on her case. I don't think it will matter very much if we have to wait a while to find out. If I were her I would drag the whole thing out as long as possible - she sure seems to be creating a lot of interest with this minor mystery! Oh, BTW, congratulations once again for another DYK (see above) - and thanks so much for your magnificent and rapidly increasing contributions. You are a star! Keep up the great work! Cheers, John Hill (talk) 08:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:HopeFloatsshot.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HopeFloatsshot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 05:07, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:ANewDayinOldSana'a.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ANewDayinOldSana'a.jpg.

Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:20, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

White Horse Temple[edit]

The draft at User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 5 is getting finalised. I requested Dr John Hill for inputs on the article since his papers/book related to this temple have been quoted in the Article as it exists now on the main space. Dr. Hill has responded immediately and he has given his inputs and referencces on the main space article itslef. I have transferred all his inputs into my draft. There are still some text not fully referenced. I have requested John for help again. I want you to have a critical look at the whole draft and take a view on posting it on main space as suitable for DYK. You may not like the template of imgs, which gives all the plaques details. Any way they are referenced in the main text on Architecture. --Nvvchar (talk) 07:43, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

A. Seta[edit]

Actually, I don't think the "notability" tag was a joke at all. There's very little that I could find in terms of what Wikipedia calls notabilty about the artist, e.g., http://news.google.com/archivesearch?pz=1&um=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=Atsuko+Seta&cf=all Most of the article as it stands is not, and needs to be, sourced from reliable, verifiable, secondary sources, emphasis on "secondary".

I gather from your comment that you're aware of Seta's work, and hey, that's awesome, I'm sorry I'm not, perhaps I should be. If you know of other sources that can be used to correctly source the assertions made in the biographical article (even if not in English), it'd be a help and would likely avoid this eventually heading to an AfD-based-on-notability discussion. --Joe Decker (talk) 18:52, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, she is one of Japan's top virtuoso pianists, the audiophile I am I listen to her recitals quite a lot. I agree the article is a shambles and doesn't do much to assert. I highly doubt this would get deleted, there should be plenty of sources around, in Japanese in particular. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:24, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you're probably right that it won't get deleted (I'm not going to start that mess), but there's a fair push in a lot of circles to clean up BLP sourcing, and non-English sources get too often overlooked in those debates. I'll try and keep an eye on it in any case. --Joe Decker (talk) 19:38, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Have a watch of this. That's a world class pianist I'm telling you! I'll find the articles on Japanese wikipedia on her it might link me to some info and some sources, even if in Japanese... Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:45, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow! Thank you!!!! (For the Youtube, but for the refs, too.) Have a great weekend! --Joe Decker (talk) 20:17, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
