Donald James LeRoy (b. 5 March 1913, d. 1 Nov 1985) was a Canadian physical chemist. He earned his PhD at University of Toronto in 1939, then worked at the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada until he became the chairman of University of Toronto's chemistry department from 1944-1960, then served as the "Vice President (scientific)" at NRC until 1974 when he held his final position as "science adviser" at NRC's Science Council until 1984. In Russell J. Boyd's survey "The Development of Computational Chemistry in Canada", he wrote that "The origins of computational and theoretical chemistry at the University of Toronto can be traced to two key appointments made by Professor Donald J. Le Roy" after hiring the university's first theoretical chemist John Valleau, followed by... and then Nobel Laureate John Polanyi.
