The Memphis was established in autumn 2015 by a handful of Hungarian and German rock and roll freaks in their mid or late forties. The name was chosen with an obvious reference to the birthplace of Elvis, an immortal icon of rock and roll history. The guys quickly realized they were more than happy to immerse in the ”danceable” style of rock and roll so popular in the 1950's and 60's. They claim to address every song with the greatest respect and delicacy, striving to render the original sound and quality of these hits as fully as possible. 80% of their repertory includes songs by Elvis Presley, Little Richard and the Hungarian band Hungaria, while the remaining 20% is made up of their own compositions. Besides, they readily look at contemporary rock'n'roll or rockabilly hits to provide their audience with the ingenuous rock'n'roll experience. This is helped by projected backgrounds showing scenes from the haydays of rock and roll.
