"Lead Section"

In the summer of 1932, in the height of the Great Depression, as many as 20,000 former soldiers and their families had converged on Washington to support the bill to advance the bonus payment promised to World War I veterans. [1] Those who marched in favor of this bill were known as the "Bonus Marchers" [2]

"Article Evaluation"

- Bonus Army Article
-- Strengths of articles -- very detailing and organized as far as transitions from one heading to the next, the sources cited were relevant to the topic and did not take away from the basis of the article
-- Slightly confusing section was the section detailing the money owed at face value and how it was determined. Had to read several times to understand the basis. The division of the march, police shooting and army intervention could have been developed in a way that did not seem like they were just dividing up the sections to create more headings relevant to the bonus army
-- There is a lot of "talk" about how the writing spoke and wrote about the marches and the police intervention with using gas, etc. There were also talks of removing uncited or irrelevant sources from the entry

Article Notes and Links - develop the general idea of what the Bonus army was. Too heavily detailed with references not related to the idea. [3] - Hoover's attach on the Bonus Army [4] - Hoover and the depression [5] Develop the general idea of the bonus army -- try not to include so much detail about the fighting the happen but the underlying reason of the march

Key ideas to contribute to article: 1. Hoover and the depression 2. the meaning of the march 3. Explain the what and who the bonus army was (their mission) 4. Develop an understanding of the end result and what the march accomplished
