Perfect PDF Premium, developed by Soft Xpansion, is a commercial PDF creator and PDF editor including a PDF forms designer and an OCR module. The program installs a virtual printer for PDF creation, accessible via the print menu and additionally via extensions of Microsoft Office and of OpenOffice applications. It does not need GhostScript to create PDFs. The editor designs PDF forms, includes annotation tools and edits texts or images.[1] The current version 9 of Perfect PDF Premium also creates PDF/A (standards A1, A2 and A3) and XPS files.[2] A free trial version that covers all functionality is available. Perfect PDF 9 Premium runs on Windows 10, 8.1, 8.0, 7, Vista and Windows Server 2012, 2008 (32 bit and 64 bit).[3] The program is a member of the Perfect PDF product family that consists of four editions: PDF & Print, Premium, Editor and Converter. The programs are available in four languages (English, German, French, Italian).[4]
History
[edit]In 2004, Soft Xpansion developed the first edition, at that time named PDF Professionell. In the following years, the product has been published by German and non-German software publishers with several consecutive new versions and under various names (see "External links" section). Apart from the product distribution through 3rd party publishers, Soft Xpansion has also been publishing Perfect PDF Premium under its own brand since 2009. The following years have seen several new versions of Perfect PDF Premium. These versions have regularly been tested in several IT trade journals, for example: Perfect PDF & Print 8 (CHIP 09/2012, August 2012), Perfect PDF 7 Premium (CHIP 12/2011, November 2011), Perfect PDF 6 Premium (CHIP 9/2010, August 2010 as well as PC WELT 8/2010, July 2010) and Perfect PDF 5.5 Premium (PC PR@xis 12/2009, November 2009).[5]
