Port Purvis was military site operated by the United States Navy. It was located in Purvis Bay in the Nggela Island, and island group located in the southwest pacific. Port Purvis served in a crucial role during the Guadalcanal Campaign as it served as a staging area.

Uses of Port Purvis

Port Purvis had served a variety of purposes throughout its service. It served as a staging area for United States Navy operations during the second world war, especially the Guadalcanal Campaign. The most documented aspect of this base was its Fleet Recreation Center. Many sailors recount days of summer fun during their downtime at the port, playing volleyball, softball, and even cricket.
