On December 9, RSMC Nadi started to monitor a weak tropical depression that had developed within the South Pacific Convergence Zone, about 700 km (435 mi)* to the northeast of Suva on the Fijian island of Viti Levu.[1][2] Later, on December 11, Tropical Depression 04F was upgraded to a Category 2 tropical cyclone and was named Evan.
