John M. Liew (born 1967/68) is an American billionaire hedge fund manager, a co-founder of AQR Capital.

Early life[edit]

He has a bachelor's degree, a master's, and a PhD, all from the University of Chicago.[1]

Career[edit]

Liew started his career at Trout Trading, developing "quantitative market-neutral stock-selection strategies".[2]

He worked for Goldman Sachs as a portfolio manager, where he "developed and managed quantitative trading strategies".[1][2]

In 1988, Liew co-founded AQR Capital.[1]

Personal life[edit]

Liew is married, with two children, and lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, US.[1]

He is a member of the board of trustees at the University of Chicago.[2]
