Count Whiskers Karenin (1862 - 1875) was the adopted son of Anna Karenina and Count Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin of the Karenin Russian aristocratic family. He is well known for his role in changing the public policies regarding changing the status of non-human relatives from pets to adoptees.
Biography
[edit]Karenin was found on the doorstep of the Karenin Estate on August 12, 1862 during a rain storm by Anna Karenina, his adopted mother. He was raised along with the other Karenin children on the Estate until in 1864, at age 2, he attended the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and studied Economics and Politics for five years before working for the Russian Federal Assembly, where he became well known for his role in the Russian Animal Rights Movement of the 1870s. He died in 1875 at the age of 12 due to pneumonia.
