Hi I'm user EffexorFX

My name is Steve Whiting

My interests are in mental health issues, particularly anti-depressant medications and a condition known as serotonin syndrome (also known as serotonin toxicity). I am particularly interested in venlafaxine, it's side-effects and withdrawal symptoms (also known as SSRI discontinuation syndrome) and how all of these link together.

About 10 years ago I set up a website known as "effexorfx" which dealt with these issues and the current version of this site can be found by clicking here[1] as can a detailed description of my background concerning these issues. Although I am not a member of the medical profession, I believe that my research on the above issues over the past 10 years, together with my own personal experience, enable me to contribute to such matters with a degree of authority. I therefore hope that my contributions will be seen as ones which add to the quality of the articles in question. I would also add that, in the past, my contributions on venlafaxine have been published in the electronic version of the BMJ (amongst other publications).

My professional background is in the law and I have a strong interest in consumer legal issues and publish articles in this respect on my website.

I hope that my dual interests and experience make me a valuable addition to the wiki community.

Finally, I'm learning as I go regarding wikipedia so if you spot any errors or have any advice for me please do let me know.
