This article discusses home made wind powered electrical generators

Description[edit]

Homemade wind turbines or DIY wind turbines can be made with simple tools and produce very usable energy.

The axial flux wind turbine designed by Hugh Piggott from Scoraig in Scotland is usually built using wood for the blades and a welded steel frame.

Alternator[edit]

Axial flux alternators uses neodymium magnets on one or two steel disks that rotate around coils of copper wire encased in resin and don't suffer from cogging effects which can be caused by iron cores typically used in radial alternators.
