Moldova - Transnistria
The Republic of Moldova (Republica Moldova ) is a republic with a popularly elected president, a parliament, the Parliament, elected in free multi-party elections and a government responsible to the parliament. Transnistria seceded as an unrecognized state from Moldova.

Khazar Khaganate
  • c 750: Present-day Moldova, populated by Vlachs is part of the Khazar Khaganate.
Pechenegs
  • Between 860 and 890: The region is conquered by the Pechenegs.

  • 1241: The region is conquered by the Mongol Empire.

  • 1259: The Golden Horde separates itself from the Mongol Empire.

  • 1792: After the end of the Russo-Turkish war, Aleksandros Mourousis becomes ruler of Moldavia. Moldavia east of the Dnestr is conquered and annexed by Russia. Russians settle in that part of Moldavia.

The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Приднестровская Молдавская Республика / Република Молдовеняскэ Нистрянэ / Придністровська Молдавська Республіка) is a limited recognized republic, de jure considered part of Moldova, with a popularly elected president, a parliament, the Supreme Council, elected in multi-party elections and a government responsible to the parliament.

  • Until 1788: Present-day Transnistria is part of Moldavia.
