The 1997 Rugby League Ireland (RLI) season was the very first Rugby league league competition on the Island of Ireland . The season saw one of Ireland's oldest clubs the Dublin Blues win what was called the All-Ireland Rugby League Championship. They beat Tallaght Tigers in the final.

Eight teams contested the cup. Belfast Buccaneers , Tallaght Tigers , Churchtown Warriors, East Coast Panthers, Bangor Vikings , Dublin Blues , Northside Saints and Cork Bulls ^[1]
