Emerson Abraham Jackson is a Sierra Leone by birth, but spent almost half his time in the United Kingdom with his family, while also engaging in professional work activities, mainly in the field of education and research.


Life and Study

He was born in Goderich (Village), a sub-urban location in the capital city of Freetown, Sierra Leone. He commenced his education at the local education community school (commonly known as "Goderich Rural School") and then proceeded to the West African Collegiate School and the Sierra Leone Grammar School for GCE 'O' and 'A' Levels respectively. He then proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone where he gained a B.Sc (Hon) Econ degree in 1993. He spent a year in Freetown after graduation and during that time, he lectured Statistics and Economics at the then Freetown Technical Institute.

He proceeded to the United Kingdom in 1994 where he spent most part of his time studying and working in the field of education. He diversified his human resource capacity into areas like Research Methods, and in 1997 gaining an M.Sc in Social Sciences Research Methods from the London South Bank University. He spent part of his post-qualification time working as a Research Assistant in the same institution, engaging in quantitative analysis using SPSS application. Around this same period, Emerson digressed his passion into Computing and gained several valuable qualifications in Programming and Hardware Installation. He spent over 18yrs delivering delivering courses like Mathematics, Market Research and Computing / ICT in sixth form colleges in London and Surrey. As part of his passion for research, he was actively engaged in 'Action Research'[1] [2] practices involving usage of ICT platform like MOODLE and flexible habd-held gadgets to both learners and tutors.

He is currently a Senior Research Economist in the Research Department at the Bank of Sierra Leone, while also pursuing a Research Doctorate qualification in 'Sustainable Livelihoods' at the Centre of West African Studies, University of Birmingham, UK. In addition to his professional work life, he also engages himself in scholarly research activities through publication of research papers and Book / Monographs, with particular reference to his country of birth, Sierra Leone.

He is a practicing Christian and keeps himself busy through extra curricular tasks in Music and sports.
