User:Engineer Bob

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to my user page! I'm a 60-something married male living in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and have been contributing to Wikipedia since mid-2005 -- although less frequently in recent years.

Yes, I'm an engineer. No, not a person who operates a railroad locomotive -- but instead, one of those nerdy guys who had no time for a social life in college (in my case, at Purdue University). I'm retired from the aerospace electronics industry, so you'll sometimes find me contributing or editing articles in that genre. And I may occasionally have something to say about consumer electronics products.

Since engineers love to fix things, you'll also frequently find me looking for (and correcting) broken or ambiguous links, spelling & punctuation errors, etc. One of my ongoing Wikipedia projects is to remind U.S. editors that ours was not the only Civil War ever fought, and I occasionally spend an hour or two correcting newly-created links by pointing them to the American Civil War.

I'm also very interested in pop and rock music, particularly music of the 1960s and 1970s and "classic rock". I've contributed material to numerous existing articles and have created several new articles where I've identified voids. You may not share my enthusiasm for groups like The Buckinghams, Chicago, The Grass Roots, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, or Toy Matinee -- but each has a place in music history.

I hope I'm helping to make Wikipedia more useful for all. Thanks for stopping by!
