Speculative fiction is known for its three historical meanings: a subgenre of science fiction that deals with human issues rather than technical ones, a subgenre of science fiction that focuses exclusively on alternative worlds, is a genre that stands apart from and rejects science fiction, and a thread for all genres that intentionally stray from everyday experience's "consensus facts". [1]There is more to speculative fiction which can start anywhere from fantasy, science fiction, and horror, but also genres including gothic, dystopia, strange fantasy, post-apocalyptic fiction, ghost stories, superhero tales, alternate history, steampunk, slipstream, magic realism, broken fairy tales, and more.[1]
